Highlights

  • Montenegro opens its first free-for-all game development hub in Podgorica.
  • The EU-backed center offers free access, more than 20 workstations, and engine training.
  • Six-month Unity, Blender, and Unreal programs begin in early 2026.

Montenegro has officially opened its first free-for-all game development hub in Podgorica, offering free workspace, professional equipment, and structured training programs for local game creators. The center provides lifetime free access for Montenegrin developers and studios and is aimed at strengthening the country’s emerging game development ecosystem.

The hub is located within the business premises of ICT Cortex and includes more than 20 high-end workstations, a fully equipped co-working space, and dedicated learning tracks in Unity, Unreal Engine, and Blender.

A free six-month training program is scheduled to run between February and July 2026, covering beginner courses in Unity and Blender alongside advanced Unreal Engine training for experienced developers.

MonteGames founder Miloš Šćepanović said the hub is intended to support the next generation of developers. “I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved - huge shoutout to ICT Cortex and all our regional partners who made this dream a reality,” Šćepanović said.

EU Funding Supports Montenegro’s Game Industry Growth

The project received €100,000 (~$117K USD) in funding from the European Union through the CBC GAIN - Investing in the Future: Gaming for New Generations initiative, supported under the Interreg VI-A Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) Program. The program is designed to support game industry growth across Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.

The hub was first announced earlier this year during a “GameDev in Montenegro” meetup on June 5, 2025, organized by ICT Cortex at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro, which brought together developers, industry experts, and students.

That event marked the formal introduction of the country’s first dedicated game development center.

With EU backing, open access infrastructure, and structured training, the Podgorica hub lowers entry barriers for local creators and signals Montenegro’s intent to develop a sustainable, internationally connected game development sector.
