Nickelodeon expands the popular Avatar franchise into the mobile gaming audience.
Mobile game publisher Scopely Inc. has launched a crossover event with Nickelodeon, introducing characters and gameplay elements from the animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" into its multiplayer party game "Stumble Guys."
The collaboration adds a new map called "Air Temple Tumble" and allows players to unlock characters including Aang, Katara, Zuko, Toph, Sokka and Appa. The event also introduces elemental bending mechanics, enabling players to create ice bridges, launch fire projectiles and perform other abilities tied to the Avatar universe's four-element system.
The content is available through the game's seasonal Stumble Pass system and includes character animations and cosmetic items themed around the Nickelodeon property. The Air Temple Tumble map features shifting platforms and elemental obstacles that players must navigate while competing against dozens of other participants in the game's signature chaotic multiplayer format.
Jake Bales, senior vice president and general manager of Stumble Guys at Scopely, said the partnership builds on the game's approach of incorporating popular brands. Previous collaborations have featured Hot Wheels and The Smurfs properties, demonstrating the company's strategy of leveraging recognizable intellectual property to attract new players and retain existing ones.
Strategic Expansion in Mobile Gaming
The timing coincides with Stumble Guys celebrating its fifth anniversary. Scopely acquired the title from original developer Kitka Games in 2022, after the game had reached 250 million downloads. The acquisition has proven successful, with the game maintaining its position as one of the leading party games in the mobile market.
For Nickelodeon and parent company Paramount Global Inc., the partnership provides access to Stumble Guys' mobile gaming audience. The Avatar franchise, which originally aired from 2005 to 2008 and won a Peabody Award, has experienced renewed popularity through streaming platforms and a Netflix live-action adaptation. Additional animated films are also in development.
Scopely has expanded its mobile gaming portfolio in recent years, publishing titles including "Monopoly GO!" The Los Angeles-based company was recognized by Time magazine as one of its most influential companies for 2025, reflecting its growing presence in the mobile gaming sector.
The mobile gaming industry has increasingly relied on brand partnerships and crossover events to drive player engagement and revenue. Such collaborations allow game publishers to tap into established fan bases while providing entertainment companies with new digital touchpoints for their properties.
The Avatar crossover event is currently live in Stumble Guys across mobile platforms.
