Nvidia is set to launch its GeForce Now cloud gaming service in India this November, marking a significant step in the expansion of cloud gaming in the region. While the exact launch date and regional pricing have yet to be revealed, Nvidia's announcement comes as part of a broader update shared during Gamescom, underscoring the company's commitment to growing its presence in emerging markets.
This launch follows Thailand’s recent access to GeForce Now via Nvidia’s partner Brothers Picture, making India the latest market to join the platform. Notably, Nvidia will operate its own data center in India, a distinct approach compared to most regions where local partnerships are common. This setup mirrors the company’s operations in North America and Western Europe.
GeForce Now Will Allow Indian Gamers To Try Cloud Gaming For Free
At the heart of this expansion is GeForce Now’s dramatically growing game library. Nvidia just unveiled a major feature called “Install-to-Play,” leveraging NVIDIA’s new NVMesh cloud storage technology. This allows gamers to install games directly in the cloud, akin to playing on a local PC. Thanks to Install-to-Play, the number of supported games on GeForce Now has now doubled to over 4,500 titles, with more than 2,200 Steam games already cloud-compatible. This vast collection vastly improves gamers’ choice and accessibility in India, where high-end gaming hardware can be prohibitively expensive.
The Indian gaming market is rapidly growing, driven by increasing internet availability and affordability, alongside rising interest in AAA titles. Nvidia’s plan to introduce GeForce Now with Ultimate and Performance subscription tiers, along with its free ad-supported option. The service caters to diverse gaming needs. Ultimate memberships promise the best experience, offering 4K streaming at 240fps with the longest session times, while the Performance tier allows 1440p resolution with 60fps. The free tier supports 1080p streaming for one-hour sessions, ideal for casual gamers.
Additionally, Nvidia plans to integrate RTX 5080 support through its new Blackwell SuperPOD servers, which introduce streaming up to 5K resolution at 120fps. Although it’s unclear if this will be available in India immediately, this technology positions GeForce Now at the forefront of cloud gaming innovation. The launch will also feature popular titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Borderlands 4, and The Outer Worlds 2, ensuring a compelling game lineup at launch.
GeForce Now’s entry into India offers gamers powerful, hardware-free access to some of the latest games. This move could boost gaming in India by lowering barriers and bringing high-quality PC gaming experiences to a much broader audience.
