Roblox Mobile App Redesign: New 'Chat' & 'Me' Tabs Change the Game

For the millions of players who log into Roblox every day, the mobile gaming experience is about to get significantly more social and deeply personal. Roblox is currently rolling out a major redesign of its mobile application, introducing brand-new “Chat” and “Me” tabs that are designed to streamline how players connect, discover new interactive experiences, and express their unique digital identities. By bringing socializing, game discovery, and avatar customization directly to the forefront of the app’s interface, Roblox is making it easier than ever for players to jump straight into the action with their friends. 

With an impressive average of 132 million active users logging on daily, this interface overhaul represents a massive shift in how the platform's global community will interact on the go. At the core of this major mobile update is the brand-new Chat tab, which has been purposefully designed to serve as a central social hub for the community. In the past, players often had to rely on cumbersome third-party apps to organize a gaming session. Now, players can use this dedicated in-app space to easily recommend their favorite games to friends, coordinate upcoming playtimes, and launch directly into experiences together with just a single tap.

The primary goal of this redesign is to keep the entire core play loop, including chatting with friends, discovering new worlds, and joining games, seamlessly contained within a single application. Looking ahead, Roblox has even bigger plans to expand this feature. Future updates will allow these text conversations to continue seamlessly across and within different games, enabling friends to stay perfectly connected without ever needing to switch apps or pick up a secondary device.

Because Roblox caters to a vast and diverse age range, safety remains a paramount concern in this newly expanded social landscape. The company has explicitly built the new Chat feature with robust, behind-the-scenes safety measures. The chat system utilizes strict age checks and integrates seamlessly with existing parental safety features like Roblox Kids and Select accounts. This ensures that the Chat is only available when it is completely age-appropriate for the specific player.

Express Your Digital Identity: The "Me" Tab

Alongside these highly requested social upgrades, Roblox is giving players much better tools to express who they are. The platform's former Avatar section is being entirely replaced by the newly designed “Me” tab. This refreshed, unified location beautifully combines everyday profile management with deep avatar customization, as per Pocketgamer.biz. 

From the Me tab, players can update their personal profile information while simultaneously changing their character's outfits, swapping out unique accessories, and tweaking their distinct movement styles. The Me tab also introduces a new avatar background feature, providing players with fresh and creative ways to showcase their digital identities to their friends.

The mobile makeover also extends to how players find games and create them. A new "Moments" tab acts as a dynamic discovery engine built entirely around engaging gameplay clips shared by friends and popular content creators. If a user sees a clip that catches their eye, they can instantly join that specific game with a single tap.

While the excitement for these features is high, the global community will see them arrive in phases. The new Chat and Me tabs are currently in their initial rollout phase, launching first for players in Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore. Players in New Zealand are also the first to receive access to a unique "Build" tab, bringing mobile-first creation tools directly into the app through an extension of Roblox Studio. Roblox has confirmed that these highly anticipated tabs will steadily roll out globally over the coming months.
