Saudi PIF Transfers $3B Take-Two Stakes to Savvy Games Group
The transfer further consolidates Saudi’s gaming investments under Savvy Games Group.
Highlights
- Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund transferred its $3B Take-Two stakes to Savvy Games Group.
- The Savvy Games Group portfolio expansion follows earlier multi-billion stakes transfers.
- The Take-Two stakes transfer takes place prior to Take-Two’s GTA VI November launch.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has transferred its roughly $3 billion USD equity stake in U.S. gaming publisher Take-Two Interactive to Savvy Games Group. According to the regulatory disclosure, Savvy Games Group now holds the 11M Take-Two shares, previously owned by PIF, under its portfolio.
The portfolio transfer signals a major shift in PIF’s investment activities. The fund has been actively playing a central role in deploying resources both domestically and internationally for Saudi Arabia.
PIF was Take-Two's second-largest shareholder prior to the transfer. According to PIF’s latest filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the sovereign fund owns stakes in five major US-based companies, including Electronic Arts.
Savvy Games’ Growing Gaming Portfolio
Savvy Games, an entity responsible for the state’s gaming investment, publishing, and esports activities, is owned by PIF. Since January 2026, PIF has been transferring gaming company shares to the company.
With the January announcement, Savvy Games gained roughly $12B worth of game company shares to its portfolio. The share included stakes in Japan’s leading publishers such as Bandai Namco and Nintendo.
The transfer of Take-Two shares has taken place only months before Take-Two’s highly anticipated GTA VI November launch. Apart from the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Take-Two publishes multiple renowned gaming franchises such as Borderlands, Red Dead Redemption, and NBA 2K.
According to Arab News, the transfer also reflects ongoing restructuring within PIF’s gaming strategy. PIF also funds EWCF, an entity responsible for the Esports World Cup and Esports Nations Cup.
