Highlights
- The retro shooter Terminator 2D: No Fate has been delayed for a third time.
- This latest delay is to allow time for the assembly of the game's physical editions.
- The publisher is holding both digital and physical versions for a coordinated global launch.
The wait for the retro-style shooter Terminator 2D: No Fate just got a little longer. Publisher Reef Entertainment announced that the game has been delayed for a third time, with its new global release date now set for Dec 12, 2025. This pushes the game back from its most recent date of Nov 26. The publisher confirmed the new date applies to both physical and digital versions of the game across all platforms.
In a statement, Reef Entertainment explained the reason for this latest shift. The components for the game's physical Day One and Collector's Editions, which were previously held up by "ongoing global trade and tariff changes", have now "finally arrived".
However, the team now requires extra time to assemble these special editions. Even though this assembly process only impacts the physical copies, Reef has chosen to hold back the digital version as well to ensure a coordinated global launch.
The publisher extended a sincere apology to its community for the repeated delays. "First of all, we want to start by saying thank you. We know you’ve waited longer than expected for the release of Terminator 2D: No Fate, and we truly appreciate your patience and support throughout this journey," the team said. "We are sincerely sorry for the repeated delays. We don’t take your patience for granted, and we never want to disappoint our community. Our goal has always been to deliver the game that you deserve, and we're almost there."
This marks the third time the game's launch has been pushed. Developed by Bitmap Bureau, the title was originally announced for a Sept 5, 2025, release. It was first delayed to Oct 31, and then to Nov 26, with the previous delays being attributed to logistical issues and "global trade and tariff impacts" that held up the production and shipment of the physical edition components.
What Is Terminator 2D: No Fate?
Terminator 2D: No Fate is a pixel-art, run-and-gun side-scroller inspired by the iconic 1991 film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The game will see players take on the role of Sarah Connor and the T-800 in an attempt to stop Skynet's plans and prevent the annihilation of the human race.
The game promises to blend key scenes from the film with original scenarios and multiple endings. The Collector's Editions, which are the cause of the current delay, are set to include items such as reversible box art, cloth posters, and collectible coins.
When it finally launches on Dec 12, Terminator 2D: No Fate will be available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. It has two physical editions. The standard edition will be for $60, while the collector’s edition will be for $120.
This new date places it in a busy holiday month, launching shortly after the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4. Fans of the franchise also have the open-world survival game Terminator: Survivors to look forward to, which is also planned for a 2025 release.
