Ubisoft Entertainment SA has announced a limited-time crossover between Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the popular Japanese animated series, Attack on Titan (AoT), launching on Nov. 25. The publisher confirmed the collaboration on Nov. 24, with its official “Title Update 1.1.6 ” blog, describing it as a free addition for all players.
The collaboration introduces a new free mission, Attack on Titan-themed in-game items, and a reward. The mission is built as a short narrative around a mysterious disturbance tied to Titan mythology and rescuing a character named Godwin. It is mostly inspired by the Crystal Cave incident in Attack on Titan season 3, when the series’ protagonist was abducted. The narrator in the official trailer also urges, “We must rescue Godwin before Albert and his fanatics force him to shift and destroy everything you’ve ever known.”
According to the blog, players will enter this standalone side mission after unlocking protagonist Yasuke. The quest will start after the player interacts with the quest-giver. The publisher noted the Attack on Titan crossover will last till Dec. 22, highlighting a limited-time engagement strategy to deepen engagement. The previous Dead by Daylight crossover was also a limited-time free mission with paid cosmetics.
Shadows and Attack on Titan Collaboration Details
The AoT collaboration, marking the second collaboration after the Shadows launch, will incorporate several new elements to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, apart from the narrative quest. The crossover will bring Survey Corps gears, banners, a statue for hideout customization, and an outfit for the game's protagonist, Naoe, inspired by Mikasa Ackerman, a popular Survey Corps fighter from the AoT universe.
Upon completing the mission, players will get several exclusive rewards, hidden in chests scattered around the Crystal cave, including a crystal katana for Naoe. Additionally, there will be an Attack on Titan Dual Pack, with items purchasable through the in-game store. This pack will include outfits, weapons, and other cosmetics, such as an Attack on Titan mount featuring Eren’s Attack Titan form.
Along with the crossover, the update also informed about a new story quest, “A Puzzlement,” marking the third story drop since the title’s release, making the new update more interesting.
The update arrives as Ubisoft continues to expand Shadows’ presence and prepares for its December launch on Nintendo Switch 2. Ubisoft also recently reported strong H1 earnings driven by the “unexpected” growth of the Assassin's Creed franchise. Cross-media IP collaboration, such as this one, can extend that momentum by pulling both fandoms together into the game’s ecosystem and generating sudden spikes in engagement.
