Microsoft has reportedly secured cloud streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI). Xbox Cloud Gaming will be able to stream the Xbox version when Rockstar Games’ title launches on Nov 19, 2026.

The agreement comes as Microsoft prepares changes to its cloud gaming service, including monthly streaming limits and a new pay-as-you-go option.

Xbox’s GTA VI Streaming Deal Remains Limited

The CEO of Xbox, Asha Sharma, allegedly told employees that Microsoft was preparing something around GTA VI that “no other platform holder is doing.” The duration of the streaming agreement remains unknown, while Rockstar has not announced a PC version of the game.

The Verge initially reported that Xbox had secured exclusive streaming rights, which suggested the deal could also provide a cloud route for PC players.

Xbox later clarified the terms of the agreement. Microsoft does not hold exclusive streaming rights, and PC players will not be able to access GTA VI through cloud streaming.

Separately, Sharma described Project Helix, Microsoft's next-generation Xbox initiative, as a “family of devices.” Microsoft is additionally working with partners on some of those devices following its strategic multi-year partnership with AMD covering a portfolio of next-generation hardware.

GTA VI Launch Coincides With Xbox Cloud Changes

Microsoft is also changing its cloud gaming structure in November 2026.

Game Pass Ultimate will include 15 hours of monthly streaming, while Premium and Essential subscribers will receive 10 and five hours, respectively. After those allowances are used, Microsoft will sell additional streaming hours through the Xbox Store.

The company is likewise introducing pay-as-you-go cloud streaming, allowing users to purchase streaming hours without a Game Pass subscription. The timing coincides with GTA VI's launch and could give players without an Xbox another option to access the game. However, PC streaming will not be supported for Rockstar’s title.

The development expands Xbox’s cloud offering around GTA VI, while PC cloud streaming remains unavailable, and the deal is not exclusive.
