Crunchyroll has set a new theatrical run for Attack on Titan: The Last Attack across the United States and Canada on May 18, according to an official announcement. The film, a compilation feature tied to the concluding arc of Attack on Titan (AoT), will screen in a one-night-only event under its Anime Nights program for exclusivity.
The Last Attack rerelease will feature a 4K version and an exclusive post-credits scene unavailable on its streaming platform. The post-credits scene based on Attack on School Castes alternate universe, functions as a theatrical differentiator for the title, which is already available on streaming.
The re-release follows The Last Attack’s previous commercial success of, grossing over $25.20 million USD worldwide, as per Box Office Mojo. In February 2025, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack’s North American debut earned $2.5M in a single day, a record that the return can replicate with a time-limited strategy.
Attack on Titan Final Arc Retelling Anchors the Event
Directed by Yuichiro Hayashi, The Last Attack is a 145-minute compilation that merges Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters Parts 1 and 2 into a single theatrical feature, to compile the series’ ending into a single offering. This arc features the highly controversial ‘Rumbling’ sequences from the anime, where protagonist Eren Yeager destroyed one-third of humanity.
The series’ ending also generated sensation among youth due to its moral complexity. Additionally, the Attack on School Castes, based on Hajime Isayama’s alternate endings and previews, will offer a contrasting narrative ending from the mainline anime.
Despite ending in 2023, Attack on Titan remains one of the most culturally relevant anime series, with continuous merchandising, brand collaborations, and events. Crunchyroll’s Anime Nights, which runs on the third Monday of each month across more than 280 theaters, is also a part of AoT IP’s long-tail monetization strategy.
