Highlights

  • Bandai Namco Entertainment announces Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 for 2027.
  • The publisher will conclude support for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 with its final DLC in 2026.
  • Multiple updates across Dragon Ball games highlight Bandai Namco’s portfolio strategy to consolidate marketing.

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 during the annual Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event in Los Angeles over the weekend (April 18-19). Bandai Namco also confirmed that the highly anticipated Dragon Ball title is scheduled for 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The announcement follows an early 2026 teaser codenamed “Project AGE 1000,” which positioned the sequel in an entirely new setting within the Dragon Ball universe. Unlike previous Xenoverse titles focused on time travel narratives, the third entry introduces West City as a central hub and features original characters created by the late Akira Toriyama.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3’s reveal was accompanied by multiple Dragon Ball announcements, including Xenoverse 2's final content roadmap. Bandai Namco confirmed the last DLC, Future Saga Chapter 4, will arrive in Summer 2026 as the game's last DLC, concluding publisher support nearly a decade after the 2016 launch.

Bandai’s Dragon Ball Portfolio Optimization Across Multiple Titles

As mentioned, Battle Hour 2026 showcased new updates for five active Dragon Ball titles spanning competitive fighters, RPG mechanics, and free-to-play mobile experiences. Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, which sold 5M copies within four months after its October 2024 launch, received new DLC characters, including Vegeta (GT) and Trunks (GT).

Sparking! Zero also received a new solo mode, along with a new attack (Super Attack), and a costume for Goku (Z – End). The 2023 title, Dragon Ball FighterZ, added Goku (Super Saiyan 4, DAIMA) as downloadable content, with new fighting techniques, including Double Combination and Power Swing.

The free-to-play title Dragon Ball GEKISHIN SQUADRA announced cross-game collaboration with Xenoverse 2 and its first offline world championship in Japan. The announcement coincides with the GEKISHIN SQUADRA Half‑Year Anniversary celebration, which features rewards, new emotes, and new heroes.

This multi-title announcement reflects Bandai Namco’s deliberate aim to accelerate the lifecycle and engagement of the publisher's Dragon Ball portfolio, which generated ¥140.6B ($942.5 million USD) in fiscal year 2024. The two-day Los Angeles event included livestreamed presentations reaching global audiences.

By rolling out updates simultaneously, the publisher streamlined its marketing across all active Dragon Ball games, while setting up Xenoverse 3 as the next key franchise release after Xenoverse 2.
