BTS Arirang World Tour Skips India, Hits PVR Inox Screens Instead

Post the success of HYBE Cine Fest 2025, the label is bringing its top revenue generator, BTS, to Indian cinemas for real-time Arirang performance screenings.

  • BTS is set to deliver the Arirang tour experience to India via live screenings at selected PVR INOX cinemas.
  • The BTS Arirang live viewing event will broadcast the Goyang and Tokyo concerts to thousands of cinemas around the world.
  • The release is part of HYBE's larger attempt to bring K-pop concerts to the global cinema industry.

BTS might be skipping India for their upcoming Arirang world tour; nevertheless, the K-pop powerhouse will tap into the country's vast market through a creative theatrical distribution agreement. By partnering with PVR Inox, the group will effectively transform Indian cinemas into temporary concert venues, enabling one of the world's most devoted fan bases to actively engage in the BTS Arirang era's debut in real time. Notably, PVR has over 1,000 screens in India and nine in Sri Lanka. The company is reportedly also seeking to expand within India itself, particularly in the South.

A Synergistic BTS Comeback: BTS Arirang live stream

The cinema release marks the start of a big 82-show BTS Arirang world tour that will visit 34 cities, including key stops in the U.S. like Chicago and Tampa. The tour is the primary promotional tool for BTS' fifth studio album of the same name (Arirang) which is scheduled for release on March 20.

The LP includes the 14 tracks, whose names are given below:

  • Body to Body
  • Hooligan
  • Aliens
  • FYA
  • 2.0
  • No. 29
  • Swim
  • Merry Go Round
  • Normal
  • Like Animals
  • They Don’t Know ‘Bout Us
  • One More Night
  • Please
  • Into the Sun

Following the album's release, a significant comeback ceremony is planned for March 21 in Gwanghwamun Square. The show's tickets sold out almost instantly, with authorities anticipating a crowd of more than 200,000 fans. For those who cannot attend in person, the performance will also be webcast globally on Netflix at 4:30 PM IST. To further establish the era's online effects, Netflix will release the documentary BTS: The Return on March 27, which will take viewers behind the scenes of the reunion and recording process.

K-pop Scales the Theatrical Model

The scale of the cinema distribution underscores a growing industry trend of treating theatrical releases as a primary revenue stream rather than a secondary one. The Arirang screenings are expected to reach more than 3,800 cinema locations across over 80 territories (with baseline estimates starting at 3,500 theaters in 75 countries).

The strategy of BTS Arirang cinematic experience in India, builds on recent experiments by HYBE and its cinema partner Trafalgar Releasing. In July 2025, the companies organized HYBE Cine Fest in Asia, a four-day event that screened concert films from artists such as BTS, SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and ENHYPEN across more than 370 theaters in 10 Asian markets. These include India, where screenings took place in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

BTS Arirang special screening in India follows a proven industry blueprint, in which high-capacity live-viewing and cinema events have become a major commercial pillar for the K-pop sector. For instance, Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience, a theatrical release documenting the group’s global stadium tour, opened at No. 1 worldwide with about $19 million USD in its first weekend across 61 markets and has since grossed over $23M globally [data from Box Office Mojo], underscoring how cinema releases can extend the commercial lifecycle of large-scale tours beyond the arena stage.

By leveraging such infrastructure, HYBE and Trafalgar Releasing aim to increase the tour's reach throughout the album's first month. The method ensures that markets like India stay part of the Arirang ecosystem, even when logistical restrictions limit in-person tour visits.
