  • Crunchyroll calls the 2027-29 release window of the next Demon Slayer films speculative.
  • The first film of the trilogy earned over $780 million worldwide.
  • Ufotable and Aniplex have not finalized plans, leaving future release dates uncertain.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s next two films have become the subject of new release date rumors. The focus comes after reports claimed the films in the Infinity Castle trilogy could be released in 2027 and 2029. Industry outlets cited a Guardian interview as the source of the same; however, that claim now appears to be disputed.

Reportedly, Crunchyroll's Mitchel Berger recently spoke with the acclaimed media house about Demon Slayer's success, and the anime powerhouse has openly declared that it has not disclosed official dates for the sequels. Partners Aniplex and studio Ufotable reportedly have not finalized their release plans. Crunchyroll further cautioned that any specific year assignments are "purely speculative." Following the public declaration, Anime Corner stated that The Guardian had removed the referenced content.

Infinity Castle Raises the Stakes for Demon Slayer Sequels

While future plans are unspecified, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — Infinity Castle Part 1 has already set a high standard. The film debuted in Japan on July 18, 2025, subsequently receiving global rollouts in late summer and autumn. The movie eventually ended up being one of the highest-grossing anime films of 2025, with over $780 million USD globally.

The commercial success of Infinity Castle has increased interest in the franchise's future installments, while also transforming it into a global entertainment force. Several communities on the internet, like Reddit, thought that a late-2026 release was more likely for Part 2, but the 2027 and 2029 projections may push fans to look into an alternative release timeframe.

What remains certain is that Infinity Castle has moved Demon Slayer to a new production level entirely. The movie’s scale, animation standards, and the global box-office presence all point to a release plan based on long-term positioning rather than calendar expectations. Until formal plans are revealed, the wait has become part of the franchise's momentum, formed by patience, precision, and the weight of a series that no longer follows a traditional anime timeline.
