Highlights

  • Cyborg 009: Nemesis will premiere in July 2026, with all three episodes releasing simultaneously.
  • The new anime introduces the Nemesis cyborgs while bringing back the iconic hero team from the six-decade-old franchise.
  • Ishimori Production has confirmed distribution across 13 Japanese streaming platforms, while international streaming details remain unannounced.

The next chapter in the long-running Cyborg 009 franchise, Cyborg 009: Nemesis, is debuting on July 19, 2026. Ishimori Production, the animation studio behind the upcoming TV anime, confirmed the premiere and unveiled a key visual featuring the cyborg team and the newly introduced Nemesis group.

According to the June 18 announcement, three episodes of Cyborg 009: Nemesis will premiere together. Each episode is around 30 minutes long, featuring the opening song, Taga Tame ni (tr. For Whom), reviving the track from the 1979 TV anime series.

The July 19 debut date carries symbolic weight for this long-running sci-fi franchise. The series, created by Shotaro Ishinomori, debuted in Shōnengahōsha's Weekly King, on July 19, 1964, placing the premiere date 62 years later from the franchise’s origin.

Where to Watch Cyborg 009 Nemesis Anime?

Ishimori Production has unveiled 13 streaming platforms, including Abema Premium, U-NEXT, Anime Hodai, Prime Video Japan, and Hulu, for Cyborg 009: Nemesis’ domestic release. The episodes will premiere on July 19, at 12:00 am JST in the country.

The announcement did not reveal an international streamer. There are reports about Crunchyroll streaming the upcoming anime; however, Nemesis is not on Crunchyroll’s Summer 2026 lineup.

Among the confirmed streaming platforms, only Hulu and Prime Video have an international presence. They might stream the anime overseas, or the Cyborg 009: Nemesis production committee might license a different streamer altogether.

New Production Update for Cyborg 009: Nemesis Summer Anime

The anime’s official website has also unveiled additional cast members on June 16. Dr. Isaac Gilmore, one of the leading bioengineers at Black Ghost organization, will be voiced by  Kazuhiro Yamaji, known for voicing Kenny (Attack on Titan), Hit (Dragon Ball), and Silver Fang (One-Punch Man).

One of the key figures in Nemesis Number cyborgs’ tech, Dr. Robert Golbert, will be voiced by  Tōru Nara. Additionally, Hiro Shimono, who voiced Zenitsu in the Demon Slayer franchise, is voicing the well-known warmonger in the series, Hispano Garcia.

Ishimori’s Cyborg 009 is widely regarded as one of Japan’s foundational futuristic sci-fi narratives. The manga introduced nine enhanced humans forced into battle after being transformed into cyborg weapons, a concept that influenced later cyberpunk franchises across anime and manga.

Nemesis was first announced in 2025, pitting the returning heroes opposite Graviton and the new Nemesis cyborgs. Hideki Ambo is directing the Cyborg 009: Nemesis anime series at Studio Arect. Nonetheless, the six-decade-old sci-fi franchise will soon test whether one of manga’s oldest superhero franchises can find renewed relevance with a new generation following its July premiere.
