On June 16, Bandai Namco Filmworks and Prime Video unveiled a new trailer and streaming details for the highly anticipated Ghost in the Shell TV anime. The announcement confirmed that the anime will reach Prime Video at 11:30 pm JST every Tuesday from July 7, just 30 minutes after each episode’s television broadcast in Japan.
The new series, produced by Golden Globe-nominated studio Science SARU, will debut on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories, excluding Vietnam, Russia, and China. The new Ghost in the Shell anime will be available in eight dub languages, including English, Français, German, along with standard Japanese, at the launch.
This Science SARU project marks the first new television adaptation of Ghost in the Shell since Netflix’s SAC_2045 concluded in 2022. Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell manga, which was first published in May 1989, remains one of the best cyberpunk narratives in anime.
What Does the New Prime Video Ghost in the Shell Trailer Show?
Prime Video’s Ghost in the Shell trailer offered the most extensive look yet at the anime’s visual style, action, and interpretation of Shirow’s manga. The trailer opens with Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg, leading the Public Security Section 9 combat unit through a near-future world.
Ghost in the Shell’s worldbuilding is known for its densely networked society shaped by cybernetic enhancement and digital surveillance. The Prime Video trailer features glimpses of futuristic urban spaces intercut with fast-paced action scenes, hacking sequences, character visuals, and cyborg mechanics.
Science SARU’s visual approach reflects a style that draws heavily from the manga, while adding a contemporary presentation. Character designs by Shuhei Handa feature cleaner line work and more expressive faces, but retain the retro-inspired looks associated with earlier versions of Ghost in the Shell.
Where to Stream Ghost in the Shell Anime?
On July 7, the Ghost in the Shell anime will premiere on Fuji TV and Kansai TV’s Tuesday-night programming block Ka-Anival!! at 11:00 pm JST. Prime Video will not stream, but offer the episodes in Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) format in Japan, at the time of the platform’s global rollout (11:30 pm JST/ 10:30 am EDT).

Science SARU and Bandai Namco’s marketing push is expected to continue at Anime Expo 2026, where the franchise will host a dedicated panel and premiere event.
