Firefly Wedding Anime Locks October Premiere Date

The TV anime adaptation of Oreko Tachibana’s Firefly Wedding will premiere on Oct 9, 2026, on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block. The block airs Fridays at 11:30 pm in Japan before international OTT services stream it globally.

The anime’s production committee unveiled a new teaser trailer and two new cast members ahead of its Fall 2026 debut. The latest update also confirmed Firefly Wedding’s ending theme to be Yumegokochi (Trance), performed by TOOBOE.

Following its premiere in Japan, Sony’s anime streaming service Crunchyroll will simulcast Firefly Wedding as a part of its Fall 2026 anime lineup. The series will be available across the Americas, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Oceania, and CIS, on the streamer.

Firefly Wedding Plot and Production

Set during Japan’s Meiji era, Firefly Wedding follows Satoko Kirigaya, a frail noblewoman whose family sees her as politically expendable because of her illness. After being targeted by Shinpei Gotō, the assassin sent to kill her, she survives by proposing a marriage with him. Viz Media, which publishes the manga in English, describes Shinpei as taking the marriage vow literally once he accepts.

Director Takahiro Kamei, who has worked on Urusei Yatsura and Fire Force, is helming the Firefly Wedding adaptation. Veteran script writer Yuko Kakihara is handling the series composition, with Yukiko Aikei serving as character designer. The first episode of the anime premiered at Anime Expo on July 4.

Firefly Wedding anime adaptation is produced by david production, the studio behind JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Fire Force. Tachibana’s manga, serialized by Shogakukan since 2023, has emerged as one of the publisher’s fastest-growing romance titles, with 4.5M copies in cumulative sales in just three years.

Firefly Wedding Voice Cast

Thus far, four voice cast have been revealed by the production. As of the latest announcement, Kent Itō and Kenjirō Tsuda joined Firefly Wedding’s cast list. The announcement builds on staff and lead cast details revealed in March.

Confirmed cast so far:

• Lynn as Satoko Kirigaya (the noblewoman at the story’s center)
• Kōki Uchiyama as Shinpei Gotō (the assassin-turned-husband)
• Kent Itō as Kotaro Ogawa
• Kenjirō Tsuda as Mitsueda

The newly announced supporting cast expands the central ensemble introduced in March, offering a clearer look at the characters surrounding Satoko and Shinpei. The new teaser video also provides a better look at these four characters’ interactions with each other. 

As Fall 2026 approaches, Firefly Wedding joins a competitive seasonal lineup on Crunchyroll. The adaptation will join returning hit franchises such as new seasons of Black Clover and Apothecary Diaries in October. Whether it can amass its audience with its mix of historical romance and suspense remains to be seen.
