  • QQ Music named Übermensch as Album of the Year, while Tencent Music honored G-Dragon with numerous top accolades, showcasing his popularity in China.
  • Several songs from the album peaked at the top of year-end charts, demonstrating that listeners were interested in more than just one hit.
  • Übermensch topped iTunes in 28 countries and has had over 300M Spotify streams, indicating a significant global commercial success.

G-Dragon's album Übermensch has been selected as the Album of the Year by China's largest music streaming platform, QQ Music. The BIGBANG frontman's agency broke the news on Monday, Jan 12, 2026. The rankings demonstrated the project’s continued cross-border commercial success more than a year after its debut.

Übermensch, released on Feb 25, 2025, was G-Dragon's first full-length studio album in over a decade. The album debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums charts in at least 28 countries worldwide, and it has had over 300 million streams on Spotify.

Tencent Music Entertainment (TME), the parent firm of QQ Music and a key player in China's streaming ecosystem, also included the rapper in its own year-end rankings. G-Dragon was named in many categories of TME’s 2025 year-end charts. The categories included K-pop Artist of the Year, K-pop Album of the Year for Übermensch, and K-pop Song of the Year for Home Sweet Home. Not only that, but the artist was also listed among the Top 10 K-pop Solo Artists of the Year. Notably, Home Sweet Home was released as a pre-release single and featured as a key track on Übermensch.

Übermensch Bagged Several Accolades In China Alone

Several other tracks from Übermensch also received honors in major year-end polls, highlighting the album's broad performance on the platform:

  • Home Sweet Home: K-pop Song of the Year honoree; longest-charting Korean song.
  • Too Bad (feat. Anderson .Paak): Highest-scoring song of the year and of all time; also mentioned in the K-pop Song of the Year category.
  • Take Me: Named in the K-pop Song of the Year section.
  • Drama: Highest-scoring song of the year.

With K-pop still facing structural limitations in China, G-Dragon's performance on the QQ Music and TME charts stood out as a rare sign of steady demand across mainland China and the larger Chinese-speaking market.

G-Dragon’s Global Impact is Shifting Trends in the Industry

G-Dragon’s achievement marked a rare milestone for a Korean solo act in an arena long shaped by informal restrictions on foreign cultural content, indicating a cautious but substantial reopening of Chinese consumption channels for Korean artists.

G-Dragon was also honored with three Golden Disc Award wins this year. In addition to his recognition in various Chinese chart categories, the awards indicate his appeal across album, song, and artist metrics, highlighting his longevity beyond a single hit cycle and reinforcing his lasting economic and cultural relevance. The singer will also hold a solo fan meeting at the KSPO Dome in Seoul from Feb 6 to 8, 2026, deepening his relationship with both domestic and foreign admirers.
