VIZ Media has confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the spinoff manga set in Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) universe, will receive its first English print volume in spring 2027. The Modulo announcement came via VIZ’s official X account as part of a broad 2027 publishing slate reveal, including JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Over Heaven and Junji Ito: Dissection on June 12, 2026.

JJK Modulo completed its manga run on March 9, 2026, following its debut on Sep 8, 2025, on the Weekly Shonen Jump. It is currently collected in three compiled volumes in Japanese, with VIZ’s 2027 release marking the first English rendering of it. VIZ has also released the cover image of the English volume.

Franchise creator Gege Akutami has written the plotline, with Yuji Iwasaki illustrating the Modulo manga. Akutami had previously stated that Modulo was planned as a “compact” serialization for roughly a year or so.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Plot Starts Decades After JJK’s Culling Game

Despite being a limited-run spinoff, JJK Modulo holds significant narrative importance. While the original Jujutsu Kaisen focused on Yuji Itadori, Yuta, and Gojo Satoru’s battle against Kenjaku and the escalating conflict surrounding Ryomen Sukuna’s reincarnation, Modulo explores a different corner of Akutami's supernatural world.

Its narrative starts 68 years after the Culling Game orchestrated by Kenjaku. The premise marks a shift from the original JJK manga, swapping its cursed-spirit horror roots with a futuristic sci-fi setting that blends aliens, cursed energy, and intense action.

JJK Modulo follows Yuta’s successors, Yuka and Tsurugi Okkotsu, as a galactic conflict unfolds “when an alien race arrives on Earth.” The Jujutsu Kaisen spinoff also established Yuji as the strongest sorcerer of the future generation, who is immortal and a lone fighter in the narrative.

The spinoff arrives at a time when the Jujutsu Kaisen IP remains commercially significant. Akutami’s original manga ended back on Sept 30, 2024, with the manga selling more than 150M copies and being one of the ten best-selling manga of all-time.

The franchise charted across prominent book-selling lists across the US as of May 2026. JJK volumes 26, 25, and 1 took the top three positions on BookScan’s Top 20 Adult Graphic Novels for 2025. The anime series just completed its third season run, ranking across Netflix’s Global Top 10 chart, on March 27, 2026.

Additionally, Modulo’s serialization end was celebrated with an animated trailer produced by MAPPA, the studio behind the Jujutsu Kaisen anime adaptation. While MAPPA has not confirmed an animated adaptation of Modulo, the commemorative trailer signals the studio’s continued investment in the franchise and its extended universe.
