  • BAKI-DOU premieres on the 26th to lead Netflix anime February 2026.

Netflix is officially bringing the next chapter of the "Baki" saga to global audiences, announcing that BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai will premiere on February 26, 2026. The series stands as the streamer’s marquee anime release for the month, reinforcing its commitment to high-stakes Japanese intellectual property and long-running fan-favorite franchises. This premiere is a central highlight of the Netflix anime February 2026 slate, picking up immediately after the world-shaking "father-son showdown" between Baki Hanma and Yujiro Hanma. With the title of "World's Strongest Boy" settled, the underground arena’s top fighters find themselves slipping into a period of deep boredom.

This peace is shattered when a secret scientific project 364 meters beneath the Tokyo Skytree successfully resurrects Miyamoto Musashi, Japan’s legendary historical swordsman, through advanced cloning technology.

The narrative centers on an unprecedented "battle of eras" as modern martial artists face Musashi’s unparalleled speed and lethal sword techniques. Produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Toshiki Hirano, the series adapts Keisuke Itagaki’s Baki-Dou manga, which originally ran in Weekly Shonen Champion from 2014 to 2018.

Netflix has confirmed that episodes will debut simultaneously, catering to the platform’s signature "binge-watch" release model with a cast featuring voice actors Nobunaga Shimazaki and Akio Ootsuka.

Netflix 2026 Anime Roadmap - Newer Releases

While February is scheduled to be a quieter month for new anime titles, Netflix is filling the gap by bringing back beloved classics and licensed hits. On February 10, fans can dive into three seasons of Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story in regions like the US and Canada. The 25-episode adventure follows Iroha Tamaki, a middle schooler who becomes a magical girl to hunt monsters while searching for a forgotten wish in the mysterious Kamihama City.

Mid-month brings a treat for martial arts fans with the arrival of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple on February 15. The 25-episode classic follows the titular Kenichi, a bookish student who joins a dojo filled with extreme martial arts masters to learn how to survive his bullies. These releases, alongside high-profile continuations such as Fire Force Season 3 Cour 2 are expected to hit the platform soon.

Winter Blockbusters in Continuity

The February lineup is further bolstered by the ongoing momentum of the Winter 2026 season's biggest hits, which began their runs in January. Leading the charge is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, which premiered in early January to adapt the high-stakes Culling Game arc. Similarly, Hell’s Paradise returned for its second season in mid-January, maintaining a steady weekly release through February. Further, adding to this powerhouse roster of ongoing series is Oshi no Ko Season 3, which also kicked off its latest chapter in mid-January.

This release window arrives as part of a broader expansion strategy overseen by Kaata Sakamoto, Netflix’s Vice President of Content for Japan. Netflix recently announced a landmark strategic partnership with MAPPA, the powerhouse studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen. This deal positions Netflix as the exclusive global distributor for MAPPA’s upcoming original titles, intensifying the competition with specialized services like Crunchyroll. Internal data shows that anime viewership has tripled over the last five years, making the genre a cornerstone of Netflix’s international growth.

The February lineup serves as a critical bridge for a massive 2026 roadmap. The momentum is expected to surge in March with two of the year’s most anticipated events: the debut of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run on March 19 and the arrival of the BEASTARS Final Season, Part 2. By securing exclusive rights to these legacy franchises and fostering deep ties with elite studios like WIT, TMS, and MAPPA, Netflix aims to maintain its edge in the global streaming market for the remainder of the year.
