Netflix Unveils Weekly Anime Release Schedule for August

Weekly simulcasts, new premieres, and anime films headline Netflix's August 2026 lineup.

Highlights

  • Netflix’s August 2026 anime schedule combines weekly simulcasts with select new releases, including The Ribbon Hero.
  • Ongoing series such as One Piece Elbaf Arc and Mushoku Tensei season 3, anchor the platform’s weekly lineup throughout the month.
  • Netflix continues its anime lineup with exclusives like STEEL BALL RUN and Blue Box season 2 later in 2026.

Netflix has released its weekly anime schedule for Aug 3 to 9, 2026, outlining when subscribers can expect new episodes of ongoing simulcasts alongside fresh premieres arriving this month. The full August lineup combines continuing seasonal series such as One Piece: Elbaf Arc and Daemons of the Shadow Realm, with new additions including The Ribbon Hero and the long-awaited Banana Fish English dub.

The only exclusive new arrival is The Ribbon Hero, an original film releasing on Aug 8. Later in the month, Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames is scheduled to arrive as a standalone release on August 27.

Another new title, My Hero Academia’s Eri-focused short, titled I Am a Hero Too, has already dropped on Aug 3, as a part of this week’s schedule. Beyond these additions, August is mainly carried by series already airing weekly: Bleach TYBW - The Calamity, Sparks of Tomorrow, Chainsmoker Cat, Mushoku Tensei, and Thunder 3.

Another continuing title, the drama Akane-Banashi, wrapped its first cour on Aug 2 and is currently available in full. It will return with new episodes in 2027.

Weekly Simulcast Schedule for Continuing Anime Series on Netflix

As mentioned, Netflix anime’s August 2026 lineup leans almost entirely on shows already in progress. Among them, titles including Chainsmoker Cat and Sparks of Tomorrow are two of the Netflix exclusives; most other titles are also streaming on Crunchyroll as part of its Summer schedule.

Wednesday: Thunder 3

Thursday: Chainsmoker Cat, Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You

Friday: Draw This, Then Die!, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 4 cour 2

Saturday: One Piece: Elbaf Arc, Bleach TYBW - The Calamity, Daemons of the Shadow Realm

Sunday: You and I Are Polar Opposites, Mushoku Tensei season 3, Though I Am an Inept Villainess, Sparks of Tomorrow

One Piece episodes continue arriving six days after their Crunchyroll simulcast, with episode 1172 dropping Aug 8 and episode 1173 following on August 15, according to GamesRadar+. Daemons of the Shadow Realm and Thunder 3 are both airing their first cours through the month.

Schedule for New Anime

There are no new anime series with a weekly release schedule premiering on Netflix this August. The Ribbon Hero, I Am a Hero Too, and Yoshiwara in Flames are standalone films, which drop on their designated schedule. The Ribbon Hero is a 109-minute movie reimagining Osamu Tezuka’s 1960s manga Princess Knight.

Netflix will also add the English dub of Banana Fish, a 2018 series fans have requested for years, on August 12. The series about a New York gang leader and a Japanese photographer’s assistant is a full-season release rather than a weekly rollout.

Netflix’s August anime lineup emphasizes consistency over volume. In the coming months, the platform will add its exclusive titles, such as STEEL BALL RUN and Blue Box season 2, with new weekly episodes starting from September and October, respectively.

Disclaimer: Availability of specific anime titles may vary region-wise.
