Highlights

  • Sony, in collaboration with Anicorn, launched a PS1-inspired mechanical watch for PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, limited to 600 units worldwide.
  • Priced at $780, the watch is a traditional mechanical timepiece positioned as a premium collectible rather than a gaming accessory.
  • The design references the original PlayStation console released in Japan in 1994 and matches Sony’s 30th anniversary hardware styling.

Sony launched a limited-edition PlayStation mechanical wristwatch to mark the brand’s 30th anniversary, extending its reach into collectible lifestyle hardware. Developed in collaboration with Anicorn, the watch went on sale on Dec. 19, 2025, and sold out on the official site within two days.

The PlayStation mechanical watch is a traditional wristwatch, not a smartwatch or gaming accessory, positioned as a commemorative collectible for long-time PlayStation fans. Production was limited to 600 units worldwide, with a retail price of $780, placing it firmly in the premium collector category and well above the original PlayStation’s $299 U.S. launch price, rather than as a functional extension of Sony’s gaming hardware lineup.

The design is rooted in the original PlayStation console released in Japan in 1994. The watch uses the same gray matte finish associated with the PS1, a visual treatment Sony also applied to its 30th Anniversary Edition PS5 console, controller, and accessories.

This shared design language aligns the watch with Sony’s broader anniversary hardware strategy.

PlayStation Mechanical Watch Focuses on Heritage, not Gameplay

Internally, the watch runs on a Miyota 9039 mechanical movement with an approximate 42-hour power reserve when fully wound. It displays hours, minutes, and seconds, and features an exhibition caseback. The 316L stainless steel case measures 42.8 mm by 48.0 mm, is fitted with sapphire glass, and offers water resistance up to 50 meters. An FKM rubber strap completes the build.

Each edition includes the mechanical watch, a PlayStation badge, and a memory capsule accessory. Pre-orders were handled exclusively through Anicorn’s online store. No additional production plans have been announced.

The release reflects how PlayStation is marking its 30th anniversary through premium, limited-edition merchandise. Priced at $780 in the U.S., above the $749.99 PS5 Pro, the PS1-inspired mechanical watch is positioned for long-time fans and collectors rather than casual gamers, aligning the product with commemorative collectibles instead of core gaming hardware.
