KRAFTON India has launched BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SHOWDOWN (BMSD) 2026, bringing 48 teams into the second edition of its invite-only BGMI esports IP. The tournament starts Sep 22, 2026, with the Promotion & Relegation stage before moving toward LAN Grand Finals from Oct 16-18 at Savaaya Convention, Gandipet, Hyderabad.
The expanded field is one of the major changes this year.
BMSD featured 24 teams in its 2025 debut, while the 2026 edition has doubled that number. There are no open registrations, with invitations earned through results on the KIE Leaderboard, BGIS, and BMPS.
Defending champions Orangutan are back after taking the inaugural title in Hyderabad under in-game leader Aaru. The lineup also features GodLike Esports, winners of BMPS 2026, Team Soul, winners of BGIS 2026, and Nebula Esports, who won BGMI Masters Series season 5.
BMSD 2026 Prize Pool and Tournament Schedule
The tournament has an INR 1 Cr prize pool, with INR 30L reserved for the champion and the remaining amount distributed among the top 16 teams.
The competitive calendar is divided into the following stages:
- Promotion & Relegation: Sep 22 - 30
- Upper Bracket Survival: Oct 1 - 3
- Lower Bracket Survival: Oct 4 - 6
- Semi Finals: Oct 8 - 11
- Last Chance: Oct 12 - 13
- LAN Grand Finals: Oct 16 - 18
Meanwhile, Google Play is the official gaming partner for BMSD 2026, while Monster Energy serves as the tournament’s official beverage partner.

BMSD 2026 Sets Up Route to BMIC and Global Championship
The tournament also determines India's representatives for the BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA INTERNATIONAL CUP (BMIC) 2026. The top six BMSD teams will qualify for the event, where they will compete against teams from Japan and South Korea. India's strongest performers will then have a pathway toward the GLOBAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2026.
All matches, including the LAN Finals, will be broadcast on the KRAFTON India Esports YouTube channel from 1:00 pm IST daily.
The format also puts greater emphasis on consistency rather than a single strong run. With teams having to navigate multiple competitive stages, the tournament can reveal which organizations can maintain form under sustained pressure. That makes BMSD 2026 a useful measure of depth and stability within India’s current BGMI esports ecosystem.
