KRAFTON India has rebranded its upcoming mobile game BGMI LITE as BGMI Air after it crossed 10M pre-registrations ahead of its planned India launch later in 2026. Announced on Oct 15, 2026, the new identity reflects the publisher’s aim to extend the core Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) experience to players whose smartphones have limited storage.
The game’s official Instagram account, @bgmi_lite.official, celebrated the milestone with the message, “10 MILLION PRE-REGISTRATIONS. A NEW NAME. The same BGMI spirit.” The announcement also featured a message from Minu Lee, Head of Publishing at KRAFTON India, thanking the BGMI community for its support.
BGMI Air Pre-Registrations, Download Size, and Open Beta Plans
Android pre-registrations opened in India on Google Play on Aug 25, 2026. Developed by KRAFTON, Inc., BGMI Air has an initial download size of approximately 1GB. However, its complete installed size, device requirements, and exact launch date remain undisclosed.
Existing BGMI players can access the new title separately without transferring their accounts. KRAFTON India also plans to introduce an open beta shortly, allowing players to provide feedback before release.
Age Rating, Data Safety, and Upcoming Updates
The Google Play listing describes the game as a lighter battlegrounds experience. It is rated 12+ for moderate violence and user interactions and includes advertisements and in-app purchases.
The developer’s data safety disclosures state that the app does not share user data with third parties.
It may collect approximate location, personal information, purchase history, device identifiers, performance diagnostics, app interactions, and in-app messages. The developer also states that data is encrypted in transit and users can request its deletion.
KRAFTON India will publish further updates through @bgmi_lite.official, @krafton.india, and other official channels. The open beta will provide an opportunity to assess how effectively BGMI Air balances reduced download requirements with the gameplay familiar to the existing community.
