ShareChat and Moj, operating under Mohalla Tech, have partnered with Tencent’s global games brand Level Infinite to launch THE MISFITS, described as India’s first bespoke gaming micro-drama. Techno Gamerz, who has a YouTube community of more than 52M subscribers, stars in the series. THE MISFITS begins streaming on ShareChat and Moj on Aug 20, 2026, as part of the launch of Gangstar Mirage City.
The project takes a different approach to game promotion by making the title’s universe part of the story. THE MISFITS follows a university freshman who creates a secret society of outsiders through anonymous digital broadcasts, with the narrative unfolding inside Gangstar Mirage City.
Gangstar Mirage City launched regionally across Southeast Asia, South Asia, Eastern and Central Europe, MENA, and LATAM after surpassing 30M pre-registrations. Available on iOS and Android, the game features open-world exploration, heists, vehicle customization, and Director’s Mode. Pre-registrations on the Google Play Store ran through Aug 20, offering early access and exclusive rewards. The Gangstar franchise launched in 2006, while Level Infinite is Tencent’s global games brand.
Sidharth Arora, India Country Manager at Level Infinite, claimed the game’s focus on storytelling influenced the campaign. He added that the partnership allowed Level Infinite to introduce it through “an original narrative” rather than a conventional trailer.
THE MISFITS Puts Gangstar Mirage City Inside the Story
ShareChat reported that its ecosystem reaches more than 60M monthly active users and records about 900M daily episode plays, giving the project a large creator-led distribution base. The collaboration combines gaming, Techno Gamerz’s audience, and vertical scripted storytelling rather than separating the game campaign from entertainment.
Chief Business Officer at ShareChat and Moj, Neha Markanda, said micro-dramas are changing episodic storytelling, with THE MISFITS combining gaming, creators, and brands.
The move follows a growing trend of gaming crossing into mainstream entertainment in India, with formats such as Amazon MX Player’s Playground already bringing gaming, reality competition, and creator culture together. THE MISFITS takes that crossover into scripted micro-drama, giving game publishers another way to build stories around gaming audiences.
