GTA VI Leak Puts Digital Game Demands in Focus
New GTA VI gameplay and map footage surface amid ownership concerns.
Highlights
- GTA VI gameplay clips and a purported full map have surfaced online.
- The group behind the leak is demanding physical discs and an end to digital pre-orders.
- The leak arrives ahead of GTA VI's Aug 27, 2026, Netflix showcase.
GTA VI gameplay clips and a purported full map have surfaced online, with the group linked to the material turning the leak into a protest against digital game ownership. Two videos reportedly show Jason playing basketball outside his home and driving, before attacking an NPC.
An image claiming to depict the complete Leonida map has also circulated. Rockstar Games and Take-Two have not authenticated the material, although reports indicate that copies are being removed from social media.
Rockstar's official release plan remains Nov 19, 2026, when GTA VI is due to arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
CyberLeek's GTA VI Target is Bigger Than the Leak
The material has been linked to CyberLeek, a group calling for changes to how publishers distribute and preserve games. Its demands include ending digital pre-orders, making physical discs available, and keeping single-player games playable without an internet connection. Its campaign specifically attacks the physical release plans for GTA VI and invokes The Crew, whose shutdown became a central example for the Stop Killing Games movement.
CyberLeek has warned that other publishers could be targeted, concluding, “If CyberLeek can reach Rockstar, no one is safe.” On its X account, CyberLeek claimed that “2-4 More Leaks” were still incoming.
The cryptocurrency promoted alongside the material has attracted substantial attention, but concerns have also emerged online that it could be a scam.
GTA VI Leak Arrives Before Rockstar's Official Showcase
The timing places the incident immediately ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look. Rockstar will premiere the presentation on Netflix on Aug 27, 2026, at 3 pm ET, with the same material scheduled to reach its official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website at 9 pm ET.
This is not the first security problem surrounding GTA VI.
In 2022, hackers published more than 90 videos and images from an early build. Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, described the fallout as “frustrating and upsetting to the team.” The game's first trailer then appeared on X before its December 2023 premiere, prompting Rockstar to publish it early. Zelnick subsequently called that leak “disappointing.”
Rockstar disclosed another third-party data breach in April 2026 but stated it had no impact on its organization or players. For now, the latest material remains unverified.
