Highlights

  • Meccha Chameleon surpassed 15M sales in under a month.
  • It is now 2026's fastest and highest-selling game.
  • A new collaboration arrives next week alongside ongoing updates.

Meccha Chameleon has surpassed 15M copies sold in under a month after its June 10, 2026, Steam launch. Developer lemorion_1224 announced the milestone in a Steam Community post on July 5. The studio also confirmed that a collaboration with a "famous Japanese star" is coming next week.

"Thanks a million!" the developer wrote while thanking players for their support.

The game currently has a Very Positive rating based on more than 26K English-language reviews. It supports 12 languages and costs INR 309 ($5.99 USD) on Steam. It also includes online PvP, Steam Cloud, Steam Workshop, Family Sharing, and support for public matches and livestreams.

Meccha Chameleon Becomes 2026's Fastest-Selling Game

According to Daniel Ahmad, director of research and insights at Niko Partners, the milestone makes Meccha Chameleon the fastest-selling and highest-selling game released in 2026 so far. The game has outperformed major launches, including Forza Horizon 6, Resident Evil Requiem, and Crimson Desert.

Ahmad also praised the two-person development team. He stated that the developers have continued releasing updates and bug fixes despite the game's rapid growth. That level of post-launch support is often difficult for small indie studios to maintain.

The latest milestone comes after Meccha Chameleon crossed 7M sales within its first two weeks.

Simple Gameplay Helped Meccha Chameleon Go Viral

Meccha Chameleon is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game. Hiders paint their white character models to blend into the environment. Seekers then search the map and shoot anything they believe is disguised.

The game is designed for 2 to 10 players. Its streamer-friendly policy, simple mechanics, and easy-to-understand gameplay helped it spread quickly across livestreams and social media.

The game's rapid rise and continued post-launch support have made it one of the standout indie releases of 2026.
