Electronic Arts Inc. (EA) reduced the workforce of Battlefield 6 Studios, as a part of the publisher's internal restructuring. The layoffs impacted developers across Motive Studio, Criterion Games, Ripple Effect Studios, and DICE, the four internal teams that collectively operate as Battlefield 6 Studios.
According to IGN’s report, EA has not disclosed the number of employees affected. However, the publisher has confirmed that the Battlefield division went through organizational changes to better align with community values.
In a statement shared with IGN, an EA spokesperson positioned the Battlefield franchise as one of EA’s biggest priorities. He added, “we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.”
Battlefield 6 Studios Restructuring Reflects Wider EA Layoffs
The restructuring across Battlefield 6 Studios reflects cost-cutting measures observed across EA’s global operations. The publisher has faced multiple rounds of layoffs since 2024 as the company adjusts its internal operations before the closing of EA’s PIF-backed acquisition.
Battlefield Studios’ previous entry, Battlefield 2042 had a troubled launch. The latest entry, Battlefield 6, is also requiring continuous post-launch updates, tiring players out. Steam player count has reduced, along with a change in reviews.
EA has not stated if the job cuts were related to Battlefield 6 struggling to maintain post-launch momentum. Earlier this year in February, EA implemented layoffs at Full Circle, the Vancouver-based studio developing the reboot of the skate. franchise.
After a successful launch, skate. also struggled to retain engagement. During the layoffs, EA informed the affected employees that the decision was made to better align resources for the skate. franchise.
This latest round of layoffs demonstrates that even successful launches may not protect studios from restructuring demands in the current gaming industry scenario. Unlike its franchise predecessor, Battlefield 6 had a record-breaking launch and became the best-shooter of 2025.
