Highlights

  • Raji: Kaliyuga is a third-person action-adventure, a significant shift from the isometric perspective of Raji: An Ancient Epic
  • The game features dual protagonists with distinct magical powers.
  • No release window has been announced yet, but the game is confirmed for PC, PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S.

Pune-based studio Nodding Heads Games has given the clearest look yet at Raji: Kaliyuga, the sequel to its 2020 action-adventure Raji: An Ancient Epic. A five-minute gameplay trailer dropped during The MIX Summer Game Showcase 2026. Unlike the earlier teaser that announced the project, this one is a full presentation, in-engine cutscenes, combat footage, traversal, and enough story context to understand what the sequel is actually doing differently.

The headline addition in Kaliyuga is the dual protagonist system. Players control both Raji and her younger brother Darsh, with characters switching based on story events rather than free player choice. Both, however, serve as companions to each other throughout the journey.

A Different Game in Almost Every Way

Raji: An Ancient Epic was an isometric action-adventure that drew considerable attention for its hand-painted art style and its grounding in Hindu and Balinese mythology. It was a confident debut for a small Indian studio, and it put Nodding Heads on the map as one of the more interesting development teams to watch in the country's growing original IP space.

Kaliyuga moves the camera entirely. The sequel is a third-person action-adventure, giving players a wider, more immersive view of the world than the top-down perspective of the original allowed. The shift is immediately visible in the trailer, which shows the Virala realm as a sprawling landscape of mountain ranges, strange flora and fauna, and interactive environments built for traversal rather than just combat arenas.

Movement appears to be a more central mechanic this time. The trailer shows players crossing water on the backs of giant turtle-like aquatic creatures, climbing and vaulting across structures, and navigating environments that include destructible elements like pillars that collapse during exploration and combat. Puzzles return from the original, though the trailer spends the majority of its runtime on combat.

Raji’s Journey Continues in Kaliyuga

Set six years after the events of Raji: An Ancient Epic, Kaliyuga opens with a cosmic crisis. The ancient asura warlord Mahabalasura has prematurely unsealed the heavens, shattering the divine equilibrium between mortal and celestial realms and triggering an endless war across the lokas, the mythological realms of Hindu cosmology.

Raji, now a seasoned warrior rather than the girl fighting to rescue her brother from Mahabalasura, as seen in the original game. Darsh is now a young dreamwalker with powers he is only beginning to understand, set out toward the Eternal Summit to confront what has been set in motion. The trailer opens on Darsh experiencing repeating visions, hinting at a narrative structure built around fate and cyclical conflict. He encounters the mark of Mahabalasura early in the story, tying his personal journey to the wider cosmic threat.

The game will release on PC, PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S, and wishlists are now open on Steam. There is no official release date available as of this writing
