Highlights

  • Roblox’s workforce reached 3,065 in 2025, marking a 24% increase with 591 new roles added during the year.
  • Average daily users reached 111.8M, alongside annual revenue nearing $4.9B during the year.
  • Creator payouts surpassed $1B, even as the company faces rising regulatory and child safety compliance costs.

Roblox expanded its full-time workforce to 3,065 employees in 2025, a 24% increase from 2,474 a year earlier. The growth reflects the company scaling operations alongside rising user activity and revenue. The hiring surge added 591 roles during a year marked by strong engagement and product output.

The increase coincided with what the company described as a “banner year.” Average daily active users (DAU) rose by 60M, while annual revenue reached nearly $4.9 billion USD, up 36% year-over-year (YoY).

High-performing experiences such as Steal a Brainrot and Grow a Garden contributed to peak concurrency exceeding 47M users in August 2025.

What is Driving Roblox Growth Across Hiring, AI, and the Creator Economy?

More than 2.3K employees now work in engineering and product, accounting for roughly 75% of the workforce, up from about 1.8K in 2024. While the total number increased, its share of the overall workforce fell slightly from 77% as hiring expanded into other areas. The expansion reflects Roblox’s focus on “attracting and retaining top-tier talent” while advancing AI-led systems built on 12B hours of monthly interaction data.

Founder and CEO of Roblox Corporation, David Baszucki, highlighted AI’s role in improving discovery, stating it can help in “transforming how users find content and interact with each other.”

The company’s growth contrasts with ongoing layoffs across gaming and technology sectors, including AI-driven workforce reductions elsewhere. Roblox also continues to build its intellectual property (IP) base, holding over 200 U.S. patents with more than 350 pending globally.

However, the company flagged a “complex” and evolving regulatory environment, particularly around child safety and online protections. It warned that compliance costs are likely to rise and could disproportionately impact operations. A recent agreement with Nevada’s attorney general to implement additional child safety measures, backed by a roughly $12M settlement, underscores that pressure.

At the ecosystem level, Roblox reported 111.8M average daily users. It also paid over $1B to creators through its Developer Exchange program between March 2024 and March 2025, a 31% increase. The platform’s tools and monetization systems remain central to its expansion strategy.

Roblox’s scaling strategy now hinges on balancing regulatory demands, workforce growth, and continued creator-driven engagement across global markets.
