Supercell has confirmed that Squad Busters will stop working on Dec 14, 2026, following its removal from the Apple App Store and Google Play on Dec 1. Players with existing installations can continue playing until the servers shut down.
Squad Busters Final Update and Closure Timeline
Supercell's final update, scheduled for December 2026, will introduce Musketeer, 8-Bit, and a Christmas event.
All in-game events and timers will conclude as the game approaches its shutdown, after which player profiles and statistics will no longer be accessible. The studio recommends capturing screenshots and clips before the closure.
The shutdown follows Supercell's October 2025 announcement that development would end. The developer reported that several reworks, including the Heroes update, failed to establish a sustainable direction. Returning to the original version would require rebuilding major systems, while another overhaul could alienate existing players.
Supercell also ruled out maintaining the game through slower updates.
Launched globally on May 29, 2024, Squad Busters attracted 40M pre-registrations in five weeks. It brought characters from Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, Hay Day, and Boom Beach together in multiplayer battles.
Planned features that will not be released include additional game modes, clans, and a trophy road for Heroes.
Rewards and Purchase Transfers
Supercell disabled in-app purchases on Oct 30, 2025. The deadline to transfer eligible purchase value from 2025 to other Supercell games expired at the end of that year.
Eligible players can claim Squad-themed cosmetics and playtime-based reward bundles through the Supercell Store for Brawl Stars, Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Hay Day, and Boom Beach. Players must link their Squad Supercell ID to the relevant accounts.
Enabling personalized offers can help display missing rewards.
Supercell has ruled out releasing the game's code for fan development, citing technical and legal complications involving content, characters, and internal tools. Community channels are expected to remain open while the game is playable. Most of the development team has moved to other projects, while some members are taking time to reflect.
The studio has no current plans to revive Squad Busters, although it has not ruled out revisiting the concept as a different game in the future.
