Unity has just delivered what CEO Matt Bromberg is proudly calling the "best quarter in its history as a public company." Driven by the breakout success of its artificial intelligence platform, Vector AI, the game engine giant is experiencing a major financial turnaround. The numbers paint a clear picture of a tech company that has found its footing again, proving that its recent restructuring and big bets on AI-driven development are paying off for both creators and investors.
For the second quarter of 2026, Unity recorded a massive $546 million USD in total revenue, marking a strong 24% increase from the same period last year. The company's overall strategic revenue, which encompasses its core businesses, saw a 38% jump to hit $486M. Most impressively, the company is rapidly accelerating toward actual profitability. Thanks to this influx of revenue and tighter operational discipline, Unity managed to shrink its net losses to just $23M, a slim 4% margin. This is a dramatic improvement compared to the heavy $107M loss and 24% margin it reported during the same period last year.
The undisputed star of the earnings report was Unity's Grow Solutions division, which houses the Vector AI platform. This segment saw its revenue surge by 35% year-on-year to reach a staggering $389M. Bromberg credited this incredible surge directly to the ongoing success of Vector AI and the Unity Ads Network.
The AI-driven platform has become an essential tool for developers looking to maximize their user acquisition and boost advertising returns. This rapid growth easily offset the expected revenue drops from sunsetting the legacy IronSource Ads Network earlier this year, helping push the Vector platform past a $1B annual run rate two quarters ahead of schedule.
Unity
Consistent Momentum in "Create Solutions"
Meanwhile, on the foundational game-building side, Unity's Create Solutions segment remained stable. The division brought in $158M for a modest 2% year-on-year increase. The company noted that higher subscription revenues were the main driver of this growth, though it was partially offset by deliberate declines in cloud and hosting services following a recent portfolio reset.
To keep the creative momentum going, Unity launched a new suite of AI tools in May for Unity 6 and later versions. The highlight of this suite is Agentic Assistant, a core feature that operates directly within game projects to help developers seamlessly understand and utilize Unity's extensive toolset.
Looking ahead, Unity is setting its expectations even higher as it prepares a roadmap for the next generation of game development. The newly introduced AI tools will be fully compatible with the highly anticipated Unity 7 engine. Described as a direct continuation of Unity 6, new features are being shipped and product-verified within the current engine right now.
Unity 7 is scheduled to enter beta testing in December before its full release in the first quarter of 2027. With third-quarter strategic revenues forecasted to reach up to $550 million, Unity appears perfectly positioned to ride this wave of AI-driven momentum straight into a profitable new era.
