Discord September 2026 Changelog Adds New Features and Fixes

Discord has published its Sep 25, 2026, changelog, outlining the latest additions and performance improvements across its mobile, desktop, and web apps. It also details usability changes and fixes introduced across the platform.

The latest changelog covers new audio controls, direct-message (DM) management, game discovery, profile customization, mobile improvements, and accessibility updates. Discord likewise detailed engineering changes affecting CPU usage, memory usage, rendering, app launches, and file uploads.

Discord Adds New Customization and Communication Options

Windows now has system-wide echo cancellation that attempts to remove sounds beyond Discord calls, including audio from other PC applications. Users can disable it when they want others to hear their system audio.

Other additions include:

• Nitro customization: Mainframe, Monkey Bars, Headbang, and Journal fonts, plus Gummy and Prism name effects.
• Profiles: Bio limits increased from 190 to 300 characters, with additional emoji support.
• Gaming: Trending games can be filtered by genres such as indie and FPS. The ‘@game’ mention feature is now available on mobile.
• Mobile: A visual refresh brings mobile closer to desktop, restores the original dark theme, and adds mobile server-tag editing.
• Communication: Users can bulk-leave inactive group DMs and control the frequency of friend-online notifications.
• Audio: New device icons make connected headphones and speakers easier to identify.
• Town Hall: The redesigned space now covers product updates, collaborations, and experiments.

What Else Does Discord’s Newest Changelog Change?

Discord upgraded its mobile apps from React Native .81 to .86, producing about 5% lower average CPU usage and approximately 5% faster launches. Electron 42 reduced desktop p50 CPU usage by about 17%, while increasing p50 memory usage by roughly 4%.

Additional rendering optimizations lowered desktop p50 CPU usage by another 3%. Free uploads have also increased from 10 MB to 20 MB.

The wider September 2026 patch includes fixes across chat, activities and apps, audio/video, server administration, media, and accessibility.
