BLACKPINK’s Go Debuts on Hot 100 as Deadline Opens in Billboard 200 Top 10
Go is BLACKPINK's 11th Billboard Hot 100 entry, breaking the previous record for K-pop female artists and exceeding legacy hits like Shut Down and Pink Venom. The track's No. 63 debut comes after its EP Deadline debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart. This is BLACKPINK’s fifth album to enter this particular chart, as well as their third consecutive top 10 placement. Luminate data revealed that Deadline recorded about 52,000 equivalent album units for the week that ended on March 5. The numbers reportedly included about 41,000 traditional album sales along with 11.46 million on-demand streams over the course of the same week.
On the other hand, the group expanded into Britain, where the song debuted at No. 44, and the EP peaked at No. 11 on the Official UK Singles and Albums Charts, respectively, thereby raising their overall British market count to 12 singles and four albums. Notably, the album also had tremendously strong physical sales. The EP sold around 1.77 million copies in its first week in South Korea, setting a new record for a K-pop girl group in the domestic market.
K-pop Maintains Strong Presence on Billboard Charts
Apart from BLACKPINK, Golden, from the soundtrack of Netflix's animated hit KPop Demon Hunters too sustained its popularity. The song fell two spots to No. 8 on the Hot 100, but continued its 37-week run. A different song from the same film, named How It's Done, ascended to No. 86 on the same chart. Nevertheless, after slipping two spots to No. 13 on the Billboard 200, the cumulative soundtrack of KPop Demon Hunters spent a similar duration of 37 weeks on the chart.
Other K-pop acts also made chart appearances this week. ATEEZ's Golden Hour: Part. 4 peaked at No. 109, while ENHYPEN’s The Sin: Vanish was placed No. 135. HYBE's U.S.-based girl group KATSEYE also charted success twice this week, with Beautiful Chaos ranking at No. 113 and SIS (Soft Is Strong) getting placed at No. 173.
