Fist of the North Star Confirms Cour 2, Scheduled for 2027

The Fist of the North Star: HOKUTO NO KEN reboot anime was confirmed for a second cour run in 2027, following its cour 1 finale, on June 26. Fist of the North Star part 1 premiered on April 10, 2026, inin Japan, as a part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Warner Bros. Japan also released a short preview of Fist of the North Star: HOKUTO NO KEN episode 15, along with confirming the cour 2 production. Produced by TMS Entertainment, the reboot marked the franchise’s first full television adaptation in decades, using modern CG-based production techniques while closely following the original manga’s storyline.

Fist of the North Star adapts Buronson (writer) and Tetsuo Hara’s (illustrator) landmark manga, which started serializing in 1983. Hiroshi Maeda directs the project at TMS Entertainment, with Kazuhiko Inukai writing series scripts. NIA Animation and Kishida Studio BACU handle the full CG animation, with staff stating that CG is used to track closer to Hara’s original art.

Where Fist of the North Star Cour 1 Left Off, and What Comes Next

The Fist of the North Star franchise is set in a post-apocalyptic world of the 1990's, after nuclear warfare has destroyed most of human civilization, following the journey of Kenshiro, a legendary martial artist. The first 14 episodes of 2026 HOKUTO NO KEN followed Kenshiro till the manga’s Fang Clan arc, ending in his duel with the Nanto Seiken swordsman Rei.

HOKUTO NO KEN Cour 2 is expected to continue into the next major arc, Jagi arc, starting from manga chapter 38. The cour is expected to introduce Kenshiro’s adoptive brothers, Toki and Raoh, whose rivalry anchors the franchise’s most thrilling narratives, including Raoh’s rise as the self-declared Fist King.

Shunsuke Takeuchi stars as Kenshiro alongside Daiki Yamashita as Bat and M.A.O. as Rin. Alexandros performed the opening theme Hallelujah, with Toshl’s Ai o Torimodose!! remix closing each episode.

The HOKUTO NO KEN reboot continues the classic martial arts franchise’s revival. The Fist of the North Star manga has sold more than 100M copies worldwide, as of 2023. The property has also expanded its presence across anime, films, musical, and games.
