The convergence of global football and live pop music triggered an unprecedented surge in streaming activity on Spotify. Spain’s championship victory bolstered the country’s national anthem, La roja baila, at the top of the charts. The song reportedly surged by an astounding 23,235% in stream volume immediately after the final whistle, as per industry-tracked data.
The Halftime Lift as Seen on Spotify
The live spectacle seen in the FIFA World Cup 2026 served as a powerful catalyst for artists who performed, especially BTS. The surge reportedly immediately followed the halftime broadcast. The South Korean superstars generated over 30 million Spotify streams and ranked as the most-streamed act among the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime performers. Since they performed Dynamite on-stage, the song’s streaming has increased by 105% on the platform.
Other tracks also experienced similar multi-fold demand spikes. Desire, by Robbie Williams and Laura Pausini, saw its streaming volume skyrocket by 945%. On the other hand, Justin Bieber’s EVERYTHING HALLELUJAH recorded a 240% bump in post-show plays.
The surge extended directly into Spotify’s video ecosystem as well, which rolls out music videos for Premium subscribers across select beta markets. Notably, IShowSpeed’s Champions (WC 26) jumped 200%, while Madonna’s Music video followed with a 180% increase. Whereas the Shakira and Burna Boy collaboration, Dai Dai, logged a 155% streaming uplift.
BTS Sets Video Record with NORMAL Music Video
Ahead of their World Cup surge, BTS made history on Spotify this week with the exclusive premiere of their video for NORMAL, a track from their fifth studio album, ARIRANG. According to Spotify, the release became the most-streamed K-pop music video in a single day in the platform’s history.
The track explores a highly intimate narrative focused on a late-night party and its quiet aftermath, providing fans a candid glimpse into life outside the spotlight. Notably, ARIRANG, became Spotify’s most-streamed K-pop album of all time. The March 20 release has been supported by a number of global Spotify campaigns. These include interactive in-app features like Decoding ARIRANG and the BTS Music Quiz, as well as the live performance at New York City’s Pier 17, making it the group’s first U.S. stage appearance in four years.
Digital Dominance of BTS on Spotify by the Numbers
Streaming data from the platform highlights BTS’ sustained commercial power within the digital audio landscape. As per information from the company, more than 130 million user-generated playlists on Spotify feature at least one BTS track.
Simultaneously, the group has registered six songs in the platform’s elite “Billions Club.” The songs are as follows:

Spotify also noted that the band’s listener engagement remained highly concentrated across the U.S., Japan, and Peru, making them the top markets for BTS, and broader K-pop as well. With such popularity, it is safe to say that BTS’ success has now become a benchmark for many upcoming acts to follow.
