  • Green Gold Animation plans to raise ₹250 cr to expand production and develop newer IPs other than Chhota Bheem.
  • The company is also open to ownership change for strategic scaling.
  • With successful funding, Green Gold could grow into an international entertainment-IP player.

Green Gold Animation, the company producing the kids’ favorite Chhota Bheem franchise, is officially seeking a fund of ₹250 crore at a valuation of about ₹800 crore. The goal is to expand production capacity and develop newer content and intellectual properties, which may go beyond Chhota Bheem.

The Hyderabad-based company has produced many other IPs, including the Krishna film series, Krishna x Chhota Bheem film collaboration series, Krishna and Balram, and Mighty Raju, which is a Chhota Bheem spin-off story. Additionally, they have also launched their own Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) channel named Green Gold TV.

Green Gold Animation currently employs approximately 500 people and has stated that it is open to a change of ownership if a strategic investor can help scale operations sustainably.

Green Gold's Vision Aligned With India’s AVGC-XR Growth

The funding program comes at a time when India's Animation-VFX-Gaming (AVGC) market is rapidly growing. Based on a recent analysis by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) (2025), the Indian Animation and VFX sector, anticipated to be a $100 billion industry, is experiencing a significant skill shortage, despite its enormous potential.

This gap highlights the growing demand for content development, outsourced services, and original intellectual property. In 2024, CII and Grant Thornton Bharat reported that the AVGC-XR sector already accounts for roughly 20% of India's media and entertainment market.

Therefore, Green Gold and its strategic moves align with India’s broader transformation of the market. The company has estimated revenues ranging from ₹100–150 crore, with some industry reports suggesting figures exceeding ₹650 crore in recent years. If their fundraising is well executed, Green Gold might transition from a legacy children's content studio to a larger entertainment-IP firm that competes on both domestic and international platforms.
