Amuse Creative Studio announced that the Eleceed TV anime will no longer premiere in 2026, with the production committee outlining a new release window for 2027. The June 26 announcement coincided with the studio’s newly released key visual, teasing the production.
Created by Jeho Son (SJH) and illustrated by ZHENA, the webtoon Eleceed debuted on Naver Webtoon in 2018. Spanning 391 chapters, as of writing, the webtoon has been issued in over 10 languages.
Eleceed was originally announced for a 2026 release back in July 2025. Now the release has been pushed to early 2027, which suggests a possible Winter or Spring 2027 release. The production committee did not provide an explanation for the delay.
Eleceed Anime Plot and Key Production Details
Eleceed anime follows Jiwoo Seo, a kind-hearted high school student with extraordinary speed who secretly uses his abilities to help others. However, his life changes after he rescues a stray injured cat, which turns out to be Kayden, the most powerful Awakened being alive, pushing the duo into battles involving Awakened Union and superpowered adversaries.
The First Slam Dunk animation studio, DandeLion, is producing the anime with Hiroshi Nishikiori, known for the 2025 slice-of-life Honey Lemon Soda, leading the project. Back when the anime was first announced, Son expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It feels like a dream to finally share the news that Eleceed is getting an anime adaptation."
Yosuke Kuroda, whose credits include My Hero Academia, is writing and overseeing the scripts. However, along with many production details, the voice cast and episode count also remain undisclosed.
With Eleceed’s blend of powerful characters and fantasy setting, typical for manhwa settings, it was one of the highly anticipated webtoon-based anime releases, along with titles like Tomb Raider King and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. Notably, the latter does not have a fixed release either.
The adaptation is part of WEBTOON Entertainment’s strategy to expand its popular webcomics into anime. The company has increased its animation slate following adaptations, including Tower of God and True Beauty, reflecting demand for South Korean webtoon-based anime.
Additionally, the production committee also announced that Eleceed will get a dedicated booth at the July Anime Expo in LA. The booth will feature surprise giveaways, and the panel will bring both both original creators SJH and ZHENA.
Nonetheless, the delay places Eleceed in a competitive and crowded adaptation cycle. 2027 will release highly anticipated adaptations from THE ONE PIECE and Kagurabachi, as well as the next Frieren season and Blue Eye Samurai season 2. With the series getting delayed and the fanbase waiting since July 2025, it remains to be seen whether DandeLion’s production matches the anticipation and the prolonged time.
