JJK Season 3 and Frieren Season 2 Netflix Rankings Explained

JJK Season 3 and Frieren Season 2 Broke Into Netflix Global Top 10

Limited to select Asian territories on Netflix, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and Frieren Season 2 still cracked the platform's worldwide non-English Top 10

22 MAY 2026, 09:03 AM

Highlights

  • Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 and Frieren season 2 reached Netflix’s Global Top 10 with only Asian markets viewership.
  • Regional licensing strategy highlights how limited anime releases still achieved global rankings due to strong audience density in Asia.
  • JJK and Frieren's impact underscores Asia’s growing influence on global streaming metrics and anime franchise performance.

Netflix’s regional anime licensing strategy could not stop Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 and Frieren season 2 from reaching the platform’s global non-English TV rankings during the Winter 2026 window. Both series reached the feat with Asian market viewership alone.

JJK season 3 arrived on the streamer on Jan 9, 2026, exclusively in select Asian territories, including India, Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 2 followed suit, arriving on Netflix in select Asian regions on Jan 16.

JJK maintained its place among Netflix Global Top 10 Non-English TV shows for over a month, ending the streak on Feb 8. Frieren's second season, on the other hand, maintained its position for three consecutive weeks from Jan 19 to Feb 8.

The significance of this rare incident lies in Netflix’s global Top 10 ranking system. The streamer’s Top 10 chart positions series or movies based on weekly views across all territories, segmenting the series and movies into appropriate categories, such as Non-English TV shows, English Movies, and the like.

Both Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 and Frieren season 2 placed on that chart, using only a fraction of the platform's audience after the simulcast split across regional markets. The incidents illustrated anime viewership density in Asia and highlighted the commercial viability of these IPs in Asian markets.

JJK Season 3 and Frieren Season 2 Weekly Rankings Show Strong Anime Retention

JJK season 3 debuted at no. 2 in the week of Jan 5-11, 2026, with 3.1M views globally. The following week (Jan 12-18), it held the third position with 2.8M views, eventually dropping to sixth position with 1.3M views for the week of Feb 2-8.

Across those five charting weeks, JJK season 3 accumulated over 12.5M Netflix views. The anime series ended its third season run on March 26, and likely slid down the ranking list after Netflix-exclusive Spring lineup consisting Baki Dou and Steel Ball Run premiered.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, season 2, followed JJK’s success in a shorter but still notable run on Netflix. The fantasy anime reached no. 9 during the week ending Jan 25 with roughly 1.4M views. In the following two weeks, Frieren generated 1.2M and 800K views taking seventh and tenth positions, respectively.

These two anime series charting globally even after staying out of Netflix’s North American and European markets reflects that Asian anime viewership carries enough weight to influence worldwide metrics. The numbers also reflect JJK's sustained franchise momentum in some of Netflix’s major markets.
