Shueisha announced on June 16 that Kagurabachi, Takeru Hokazono’s breakout Weekly Shonen Jump series, will enter a hiatus beginning with the magazine’s Issue 31, which releases June 29, 2026. The manga is expected to resume publication in August after the publication of chapter 126, which is reported to release in June.
The hiatus follows a shorter health-related break earlier in 2026. However, the official X post has not described a particular reason for this pause.
Reportedly, Hokazono wanted to continue serialization, but a joint decision was reached with the publisher to pause Kagurabachi for now, in order for the manga to resume on a more stable production schedule.
Kagurabachi Manga: Three Years, 11 Volumes, 4 Million Copies
Since debuting in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023, Kagurabachi manga has sold more than 4M copies in less than three years. As of mid-June, the manga series has published 124 chapters and three bonus chapters.
Kagurabachi manga currently has 11 complete volumes, compiling manga chapters up to chapter 101. The manga’s first part, comprising chapters 1 to 112, concluded in February 2026. Part 2 launched immediately into a flashback storyline centered on the Seitei War and the origins of the Enchanted Blades.
Kagurabachi chapter 126, the likely final chapter before the hiatus, falls into the Seitei War arc and will pick up after chapter 125. In the last published chapter, 124, Kunishige begins the process of forging the first Enchanted Blade. Kagurabachi manga is available through Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform and Viz Media.
Beyond the sales figures, the series has collected significant industry recognition following its debut. Kagurabachi manga has won the print category of the Next Manga Awards 2024 and received a nomination for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards.
The hiatus arrives with the upcoming Kagurabachi anime adaptation less than a year away. After years of speculation, the manga officially received an anime adaptation with an April 2027 premiere date, in April 2026.
Animation studio CyPic, a CyberAgent subsidiary, has also planned a world tour. Kagurabachi world tour will start with premiering the first 20-minutes of the anime at a panel at Anime Expo in LA on July 3.
