MAPPA and Nippon TV announced on July 26 that Ranma ½ season 3 will begin broadcasting on Oct 3, 2026, with new episodes airing weekly. The announcement was made during the franchise’s fan event, the ‘Slapstick Fighting Fan Meeting’ (tr.), along with the reveal of key visuals and an expanded cast list.
Ranma ½ season 3’s newly announced cast includes Minami Tanaka as Tsubasa Kurenai, Jun Fukuyama as Sentaro Daimonji, and Masako Nozawa as the Grand Master. Two other veteran voice actors, Mayumi Tanaka and Saori Hayami, have also joined the production. Their character names remain undisclosed.
Tanaka and Hayami’s characters, however, received their character visuals. The upcoming season’s new key visual centers Ranma, Akane, and Ryoga alongside these five incoming characters.
The current adaptation of Ranma ½ is a remake of the previous anime offering, which started airing in 1989, following renowned creator Rumiko Takahashi’s original manga. Animation studio MAPPA debuted the upcoming season’s trailer in June as a part of its 15th Anniversary lineup.
Where and When to Watch Ranma 1/2 Season 3?
Ranma ½ season 3 will start airing on October 3 at 12:55 am JST on Nippon TV and affiliated Japanese broadcasters. Immediately after its TV broadcast, Netflix will carry the series internationally.
The third season’s run follows both previous seasons’ debut on Netflix in October 2024 and 2025, respectively. Ranma ½’s previous remake seasons are also available on the platform.
Ranma 1/2 Season 3 Production and Plot Details
Takahashi’s Ranma ½ follows Ranma Saotome’s martial arts journey, who transforms into a girl when splashed with cold water, as he navigates an arranged engagement to Akane Tendo. The trailer for the third season previewed the return of Ryoga Hibiki and teased the adaptation of the Breaking Point storyline, where Ryoga masters ‘Breaking Point Blow.’
Kōnosuke Uda returned to direct Ranma ½’s new season at MAPPA, with Kimiko Ueno writing the series scripts yet again. Hiromi Taniguchi oversees character designs, and Kaoru Wada composes the score.
Yoshiko Saitō and Kōsuke Kawamura continue as chief animation directors, with Riko Kaneda and Haruki Miura joining them in the same role. Masahiro Kurio continues as a main animator alongside newcomers Atsuko Ishida and Yoshihiro Takeda. The production staff remains largely unchanged, signaling continuity for Ranma ½ remake’s visual approach.
The Ranma ½ remake continues Netflix’s strategy of reviving classic anime with modern visuals and animation; a lineup that also includes The One Piece and Ribbon Hero. The remake also highlights the enduring legacy of Rumiko Takahashi, who was inducted for Eisner Hall of Fame in 2018. Her manga catalog, including Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura, and Maison Ikkoku, has sold more than 230M copies worldwide.
Ranma ½'s October schedule places it inside a crowded fall anime block with several returning franchises on the platform. Netflix’s fall lineup includes Blue Box season 2, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and the first part of Apothecary Diaries season 3.
