Witch Hat Atelier has emerged as one of the most recognized anime titles of 2026 after securing three nominations at the 2026 Astra TV Awards. The anime secured spots in Best Anime Series, Lead Voice-Over Performance, and Supporting Voice-Over Performance.
Based on Kamome Shirahama’s original manga, which has sold over 7.5M copies globally, the Witch Hat Atelier anime premiered on Crunchyroll and Netflix on April 6, 2026. The series quickly drew attention for its visual design, world-building, and faithfulness to Shirahama’s artwork.

The Astra TV Awards nominations, in less than two months of the series’ run, reflect the anime’s production quality, which was three and a half years in production. Witch Hat Atelier currently has a 100% critics’ approval on Rotten Tomatoes.
Witch Hat Atelier and the Best Anime Series Category at 2026 Astra TV Awards
Witch Hat Atelier shares the Best Anime Series category with five other titles. Netflix-exclusive anime series’ Sakamoto Days, Steel Ball Run: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which only has one episode released, and Dandelion received nominations. Hulu’s Mao and Adult Swim’s Rooster Fighter complete the list of nominees in the Best Anime Series category.
Apart from Witch Hat Atelier, Rooster Fighter is the only anime series that has received a nomination outside the anime category. Patrick Seitz, Rooster Fighter’s Keiji’s English dub voice actor, received a nomination for Lead Voice-Over Performance. This category has four other nominations from Netflix and Prime Video animated series, including Long Story Short and Invincible.
The Astra TV Awards introduced a dedicated Best Anime Series category in 2024, with Solo Leveling winning the inaugural prize. Dragon Ball Daima took the award at the fifth Astra TV Awards in 2025. The 2026 Astra TV Awards ceremony is scheduled for Aug 15, 2026, in Los Angeles, with winners selected by the Hollywood Creative Alliance’s voting system.
