As Most Publishers Flee GTA VI, Furyu Picks November
Furyu's Crymelight joins a small group of games targeting November despite the looming launch of GTA VI.
Highlights
- Crymelight will launch two weeks before GTA VI's scheduled Nov 19 release.
- Furyu rejected claims that all publishers are avoiding GTA VI's launch window.
- Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered and Barbie Rewind are also targeting November releases.
While many publishers are crowding into September and October 2026, Furyu Games has chosen a different path. The publisher confirmed that its upcoming roguelike title Crymelight will launch on Nov 5, 2026, placing it just two weeks ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), currently scheduled for Nov 19.
The announcement came in response to a Kotaku report arguing that publishers are steering clear of GTA VI's release window. On X, Furyu pushed back on that narrative, writing, "Maybe not *every* publisher," before confirming Crymelight's November launch.
The publisher closed its post by saying, "Maybe we're just not afraid enough," indicating it is willing to launch during a period many publishers appear to be avoiding.
GTA VI Release Date Continues to Shape the 2026 Calendar
Furyu's decision contrasts with a growing industry trend. During Sony's recent State of Play 2026 June presentation, nearly every dated title landed between August and October, leaving November largely untouched.

Outlook Respawn
Meanwhile, Furyu noted that it has taken a similar approach before. The publisher stated that Kemono Teatime launched on Sept 4 last year, the same day as Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Whether the strategy pays off remains unclear. However, Crymelight is no longer alone in staking a claim to November. Atari has scheduled Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered for Nov 3 and Barbie Rewind for Nov 12, making them some of the few newly announced games willing to launch in the shadow of GTA VI.
As much of the industry crowds into September and October, these publishers are turning November into an unexpected battleground rather than conceding the month entirely.
