Capcom’s third quarter (Q3) report shows the publisher delivered record video game software sales for the nine months ended Dec. 31, 2025, driven primarily by strong demand for its catalog titles. Total unit sales reached 34.64M worldwide, up 13.5% year-on-year (YoY), and the highest cumulative total the company has achieved in a nine-month period.
In the Q3 report, the company stated the result represents its “highest-ever cumulative total unit and catalog unit sales” for the period. Catalog titles accounted for 33.39M units sold, a sharp increase from 28.61M units during the same period last fiscal year, highlighting the growing importance of long-tail sales across major franchises.
Several established titles underpinned the performance, with Street Fighter 6 surpassing 6M lifetime sales following the release of its Nintendo Switch 2 version. Devil May Cry 5 remained a strong catalog performer, selling over 2.4M units during the nine-month period ending Dec. 31, 2025, bringing its total lifetime sales to over 11M units.
Resident Evil titles also remained major contributors, with Resident Evil 4 reaching 12.25M lifetime sales and Resident Evil Village climbing to 13.58M. Monster Hunter Rise added to the momentum, with cumulative sales rising to 18.27M units worldwide.
Capcom Q3 Report Highlights Franchise and Transmedia Impact
The report also pointed to wider brand initiatives supporting sales. The company cited transmedia efforts such as the Netflix adaptation of Devil May Cry, alongside coordinated pricing strategies, as factors supporting franchise visibility.
On mobile, Resident Evil Survival Unit surpassed 3M downloads on iOS and Android, which Capcom said “contributed to the increased recognition” of the Resident Evil brand after crossing 1M downloads within 24 hours of launch.
