Colab Platforms Enter India's Esports Market
Colab Platforms enters India’s esports market, targeting both casual and pro gamers with creator-led tournaments and servers.
Launch begins with Counter-Strike 2, with future plans for AAA PC, mobile, VR, and gamified fitness expansion.
Esports push ties into Colab’s ₹25 crore sports-tech accelerator to boost innovation and career building in gaming.
Sports-tech firm Colab Platforms officially entered India's esports market, with plans to build a competitive gaming ecosystem designed for both casual and professional players.
The platform’s initial phase includes low‑entry, high‑frequency competitive formats, creator‑led tournaments, and proprietary game servers. The platform will first focus on Counter‑Strike 2, and plans to expand into AAA PC and mobile games in subsequent stages.
"Esports isn't just the future of gaming--it's the future of entertainment, career building, and digital identity. At Colab, we're building an esports ecosystem where every match, every win, and every hour of gameplay creates real value for the player," said Colab Platforms’ Managing Director Puneet Singh.
The company’s esports venture will integrate with the company’s recently launched INR 25 Crore ($2.91 million) sports‑tech accelerator program to drive sports-tech innovation in India. Complementary plans include co‑branded streamer partnerships, mobile esports initiatives, VR arena development, and gamified fitness offerings.
Colab Platforms is a sports‑tech platform, with infrastructure ranging from athlete development and fan engagement tools to sports commerce and content creation.
The company had reported a consolidated revenue of INR 70.05 crore ($8.14 million) in FY 2024-25, a 3,000% year‑on‑year increase from INR 2.25 crore ($262,000). Net profit jumped by 60% to INR 2.86 crore ($332,600), while Q4 revenue hit INR 20.49 crore ($2.38 million).
During this period, Colab Platforms undertook a series of strategic initiatives to strengthen its presence in the rapidly evolving sports-tech landscape.
In December 2024, Colab acquired the Northern Challengers franchise in the Big Cricket League, led by former Indian Cricket Team star Shikhar Dhawan. The company also launched a dedicated e-commerce marketplace to tap into India’s $58 billion sports and fitness industry. In parallel, Colab announced its entry into the predictive gaming segment, targeting a ₹50,000 crore (approx. $5.81 billion) market fueled by a growing digital user base.
