Highlights
- Jean-Charles Gaudechon will lead Remedy as chief executive officer, starting March 1, 2026.
- Interim CEO and co-founder Markus Mäki to support the leadership transition.
- The appointment aligns with Remedy’s self-publishing and franchise expansion roadmap.
Remedy Entertainment Plc has appointed Jean-Charles “JC” Gaudechon as chief executive officer (CEO), according to a stock exchange release issued Feb 9, 2026, at 6:30 pm EET. He will take over on March 1, 2026, from interim CEO and co-founder Markus Mäki. Mäki will remain in the role until the handover and continue assisting the company afterward.
Gaudechon, 48, is a France-born executive with more than two decades of leadership experience across the global gaming and digital entertainment sector.
His career spans senior leadership roles at Electronic Arts (EA) and CCP Games, where he oversaw operations with full profit-and-loss accountability. He recently served as senior vice president (SVP) and group general manager (GGM) at the sports app, Sleeper.
Remedy’s board stated the leadership change supports its next operational phase. Chairman Henri Österlund pointed to Gaudechon’s experience managing international studios and scaling franchises as relevant to the company’s commercial and publishing objectives.
Remedy CEO Transition Tied to Publishing Independence Strategy
Gaudechon mentioned that the studio’s development slate and identity were central to his decision to join.
“We will stay close to players, earn their time and trust, and strengthen our independence in how we build and publish our games, while continuing to work closely with the partners who have supported us along the way,” he said. He also confirmed plans to relocate to Finland with his family.
Founded in 1995, Remedy is headquartered in Finland with an additional office in Stockholm, Sweden. The company is known for narrative-focused action franchises, including Control, Alan Wake, and Max Payne, and for developing its proprietary Northlight engine technology. Remedy’s shares are listed on Nasdaq Helsinki’s main list.
His appointment comes as Remedy deepens its self-publishing focus and expands its franchise roadmap. Whether that momentum translates into sustained commercial growth will now be the key test of Gaudechon's leadership.
