Iron Games Secures $4M USD Funding from Arcadia for Team Growth

Iron Games, the London-based mobile studio, has secured a $4 million USD investment from Arcadia Gaming Partners. This marks one of the first publicly announced deals by Arcadia, a mobile games focused fund helmed by Akin Babayigit.

Akin Babayigit was also the former president of Tripledot, and this Arcadia fund, which amounts to almost $100 million USD, provides investment specifically for mobile gaming companies.

Iron Games, on the other hand, was co-founded by ex-product chief Eren Yanık and ex-COO/GM Remzi Senel of Gram Games, which later got sold to Zynga. Gram Games is also the developer behind the popular title Merge Dragons! 

Iron Games Aims to Redefine Casual and Merge Genres

By offering fresh and unique gameplay to the players, Iron Games hopes to bring a change in the casual genre and merge genres. Both remain highly competitive and capital intensive, with long tail value critical to sustainability in the space where Iron Games operates. The crowded market demands high attention, and this significant funding will help them stand out.

This investment is also crucial for Iron Games, as they intend to produce what the studio refers to as "a portfolio of forever games," thus enabling team expansion, accelerating development, and reusable system purchases to boost launches.

In a statement to Pocket Gamers, Yanık said, “There are many more people in the gaming ecosystem, and a much higher amount of funding available... Any idea competes for the attention of a finite pool of players, with products that have billions invested into them.” The studio intends to combine “a unique core gameplay with proven meta to stand out without compromising familiarity.”

Speaking on the same, Babayigit added, “Iron Games embodies the exact philosophy we look for in founders: disciplined, lean, and relentlessly focused on execution… Their clarity of vision… gives us immense confidence that Iron will be one of the defining studios of this decade.” 

It will be interesting to see how things turn out for Iron Games and whether they are able to give a hit title or not.
