Indian videogame studios are establishing themselves in the global market. Over the past few years, homegrown titles have gained traction locally and earned recognition from international gamers. India's game development scene spans ambitious open-world adventures to culturally rooted narratives and continues to evolve.

The diversity of games in development is notable, ranging from puzzles and AAA titles to battle royales. Here are some of the most prominent upcoming Indian games and the studios developing them. 

These games were featured at the Indie Game Utsav 2025, where more than 40 independent Indian game studios showcased their work.

Mumbai Gullies is an action role-playing game developed by GameEon Studios, inspired by nostalgia and Bollywood themes. Set in 1990s Mumbai, the game allows players to experience the city's charm through activities such as eating street food and visiting iconic locations while navigating the drama of the crime-filled decade. GameEon Studios founder and Chief Executive Nikhil Malankar told YourStory he hopes the game will serve as a virtual tour of the city and potentially help increase tourism to India and Mumbai.

Fishbowl is a slice-of-life, coming-of-age story that unfolds over 30 days. The game is developed by imissmyfriends.studio, a two-person independent studio. Players control Alo, a 21-year-old woman who moves to a new city for her first job and navigates different emotions and adulthood while grieving her deceased grandmother. Players can video call friends and loved ones, work from home, and solve puzzles to rekindle childhood memories. According to the game's description, Alo's choices lead to a unique journey of self-discovery.

Kurukshetra: Ascension by Studio Sirah is a strategic card battler inspired by the Indian epics Mahabharata and Ramayana. The game is currently in early access and actively seeking player feedback for further development. While the videogame market is dominated by casual games and hardcore titles such as shooters and open-world RPGs, Studio Sirah identified a gap in the midcore space. Studio co-founder Abhaas Shah said, "The midcore space is empty, and Indian players have expressed their desire for Indian IP games in multiple large-scale surveys."

ILAVATH: Battle Arenas

ILAVATH: Battle Arenas

Developed by 5th Ocean Studio, ILAVATH: Battle Arenas is a team-based strategy game inspired by Indian legends. In this multiplayer online battle arena game, players battle for Moksha in a cosmic arena. The premise centers on the Indian legend of the war for Amruth, the elixir of immortality. This war disturbs the cosmic balance, and to restore equilibrium, the tri-gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva create Ilavath, a realm where heroes of different races battle for Moksha.

Tathvamasi Studios

SURI: The Seventh Note is a hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania set in mythical India, developed by Tathvamasi Studios. The game features rhythmic gameplay in which every action, puzzle and enemy is influenced by a mysterious, ever-present beat. With the world pulsing to this rhythm, players must time their movements and skills to unlock paths and uncover secrets. The game draws from Indian mythology and landscapes, featuring biomes inspired by ancient temples, forests and folklore. The developers have cited games such as Hollow Knight and Ori and the Will of the Wisps as inspiration.
