Indian gaming company Nazara Technologies invested in nCore Games, the developer behind the homegrown FAU-G mobile game franchise.
Nazara didn't disclose the size of its investment in nCore, which has positioned FAU-G as a locally developed alternative in India's competitive mobile gaming market. Nazara, India's only publicly listed gaming company, already served as a publisher for nCore's games. The investment formalizes a deeper relationship between the two companies as nCore works to build what it calls competitive gaming experiences tailored to Indian audiences.
"The transition of a long-term publishing partner into a strategic investor reflects shared confidence in our execution, data-driven approach, and long-term ambition," said Kaval Bombra, president of nCore Games.
Nazara expands investments in Indian gaming ecosystem
The FAU-G franchise includes military-themed action games that have attracted attention in India's mobile gaming market. Deepak Ail, co-founder and CEO of Dot9 Games, which developed FAU-G: Domination, said the company has focused on building games for India's gaming community, with plans to eventually expand internationally.
"From the beginning our strategy has been centered on building a competitive experience for India's vocal gaming community," Ail said. "We're grateful to Nazara for its support and confidence in us to build the best from India for India and eventually, the world."
Beyond the nCore investment, Nazara's board approved a capital infusion of up to INR 15 crore ($1.67 million) into Rusk Media, a mobile entertainment platform targeting younger audiences.
Nazara's portfolio also includes children's learning app Kiddopia, which recently resumed subscriber growth after implementing changes to user acquisition and product development. The company also operates Animal Jam, which recently expanded to the Roblox platform, and owns publishing studios including UK-based Curve Games and Fusebox Games, developer of Love Island and Big Brother mobile games.
The company's associate NODWIN Gaming, which operates esports tournaments and events, also reported improved profitability in the quarter, though Nazara didn't provide specific figures.
Nitish Mittersain, joint managing director and CEO of Nazara, said the company remains focused on acquisitions where its platform can improve unit economics and accelerate growth. Nazara has pursued a strategy of acquiring and investing in gaming studios and related businesses to build what it describes as a global gaming platform.
