Remedy Entertainment has ended content development for FBC: Firebreak with the release of its final major update, ‘Open House,’ on March 17, 2026. The studio confirmed no new playable content will follow. The game will remain online and supported.
“Open House” introduces five new arenas inspired by Control for the Endless Shift mode, namely Cafeteria, Aircon Room, Ranger HQ, Turntable, and Ritual Lobby. The update also delivers combat and system changes focused on clarity and flexibility. These include shorter status effects, improved healing from water sources, streamlined perk equipping, and revised weapon balance.
Additional updates include faster revive and crawl speeds, along with clearer HUD indicators. The update introduces a permanent price reduction to $19.99 USD for the base game and $29.99 for the Deluxe Edition.
On Steam, the game is discounted by 20% through the end of March 2026.
Meanwhile, a Twitch Drops campaign runs from March 17 to April 12, 2026. It requires three hours of watch time of FBC: Firebreak streams on Twitch to unlock Researcher and Overseer armor sets.
Firebreak Friend’s Pass and Long-Term Server Support Strategy
Remedy is introducing a “Friend’s Pass” system to sustain player activity. Owners can invite up to two friends to play the full game for free, with limits on starting sessions and creating lobbies. The feature supports cross-platform play.
The studio stated it has completed engineering work to maintain relay servers even with lower player volumes. While no new content is planned, patches will be released if required.
“As Remedy’s first online multiplayer game and our first self-published title, it has been quite the journey,” the studio said, describing it as a learning experience for the team. Game Director, Mike Kayatta, added that the goal is to ensure “those moments can continue for the players who are already here.”
FBC: Firebreak launched in 2025 as a departure from Remedy’s single-player focus but struggled to recover from a difficult start. The company is now shifting toward its next release, the Control sequel Resonant, expected in 2026.
Altogether, this approach allows Remedy to preserve the game’s player base while concluding its live-service expansion.
