Steam Deck OLED Price Increase Announced for March 2026
Steam Deck OLED prices will rise from March 6, 2026, in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan due to logistics costs and currency shifts.
Highlights
- Steam Deck OLED prices will increase starting March 6, 2026.
- Japan sees a 15K yen rise for both 512GB and 1TB models.
- Price changes also apply to South Korea and Taiwan for the affected models.
Valve’s handheld gaming device is about to get more expensive in parts of Asia. Retailer KOMODO has confirmed that the Steam Deck OLED will see a price increase starting March 6, 2026, across Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
According to the official announcement, the change comes after ongoing logistics cost pressures and recent currency fluctuations that have impacted regional pricing since launch. The gaming industry, at large, is facing shortages, notably for RAM, storage, and graphics cards.
Steam Deck OLED New Pricing in Various Markets
The revised pricing applies to both available OLED storage models. In Japan, the 512GB Steam Deck OLED has gone up from 84,800 yen (about $547) to 99,800 yen (about $644), while the 1TB version has increased from 99,800 yen (about $644) to 114,800 yen (about $740). This represents a rise of roughly 15K yen, or about $97, across both configurations.
In South Korea, the 512GB model has moved from KRW 839K (about $583) to KRW 898K (about $624), and the 1TB version has increased from KRW 989,000 (about $687) to KRW 1,048,000 (about $728).
Meanwhile, Taiwan has seen a smaller adjustment, with the 512GB model shifting from TWD 18,880 (about $602) to TWD 18,980 (about $605), and the 1TB variant rising from TWD 21,980 (about $700) to TWD 22,480 (about $716).
KOMODO stated that the revision follows careful review of rising logistics costs and the exchange rate volatility. These problems have persisted since the OLED model’s launch, making current pricing difficult to sustain in select regions. Notably, Hong Kong pricing will remain unchanged, as the company believes the impact there is limited.
What This Means for Buyers
For consumers in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, March 6 effectively becomes a soft deadline for purchasing the Steam Deck OLED at current pricing. While the increase is regional and does not affect global pricing, it reflects the broader reality facing hardware manufacturers operating across fluctuating currency markets and rising supply chain costs.
The Steam handheld console is facing shortages in several markets, and it is getting difficult to obtain. It has raised questions about the availability of the Steam Machine, which is expected to launch in the near future as a pre-built gaming PC designed around Steam OS.
