Highlights

  • Take-Two Interactive Hit $6.7B in net bookings (19% YoY growth), slashing the GAAP net loss to $298.2M.
  • Mobile gaming drove $3.3B (49% share), with recurrent consumer spending anchoring 78% of total bookings.
  • Projects $8.0B–$8.2B next year, fueled by the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Gaming titan Take-Two Interactive has closed out an exceptional 2026 fiscal year, generating a staggering $6.7 billion USD in total net bookings. This massive milestone represents a 19% year-over-year growth from the $5.7B recorded in fiscal year 2025. Driven by steady sales from iconic console and PC franchises like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, alongside a celebrated "fantastic" mobile performance, the publisher has successfully rebounded its financial health. The company drastically narrowed its GAAP net loss to $298.2M, marking a massive recovery from the heavy $4.5B loss reported the previous year.

Mobile gaming proved to be the primary engine behind this financial surge, pulling in $3.3B and representing 49% of Take-Two's total annual bookings. While this overall share dipped slightly from 51% the previous year due to the surging growth of console and PC titles, mobile net bookings have consistently risen every single year since the company acquired mobile powerhouse Zynga in 2022.

This trend continued in FY2026, with Zynga achieving a record post-acquisition net bookings sum. Hit titles led the charge, with Toon Blast growing by approximately 25% year-over-year and Color Block Jam rising 15% to reach 66.7M downloads. Empires and Puzzles also exceeded expectations with a 5% growth, as per Pocketgamer.biz.

Recurrent Consumer Spending & Direct-to-Consumer Growth

The financial data paints a clear picture of an industry increasingly reliant on live-service features and virtual currency. Recurrent consumer spending, which covers in-game microtransactions and DLC, climbed 17% across all platforms to account for a massive 78% of Take-Two's total net bookings.

On mobile alone, this ongoing player spending rose by 13%. Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick credited the company's direct-to-consumer online channels for boosting profit margins. By reducing payment friction and enhancing the user experience, these channels improved conversion rates and customer loyalty.

These steady streams of digital income helped push Take-Two’s final fourth quarter to nearly $1.6B in net bookings, easily beating the high end of internal guidance. Overall, GAAP net revenue climbed 18% year-over-year to reach almost $6.7B. While the company generated a gross profit of $3.8B, a $3.9B in operating expenses resulted in an operating loss of $104M. However, operational efficiencies allowed Take-Two to generate $624M in operating cash flow, soaring past its original $450M forecast and leaving the publisher in a remarkably strong financial position.

Portfolio Milestones: Rollic Installs & New Casual Titles

Across the broader portfolio, Take-Two's studios continued to hit major milestones. Zynga subsidiary Rollic cleared an incredible 3.9 billion lifetime installs across its casual portfolio, with titles like Timeline Up, Crowd Express, Gecko Out, and Knit Out all surpassing 5M installs. Other standout casual titles highlighted in the report included Words With Friends, FarmVille 3, and Game of Thrones: Legends, while Sid Meier’s Civilization VII successfully launched for mobile players via Apple Arcade in the final quarter.

Looking ahead, Take-Two is positioning itself to shatter even more industry records. Zelnick praised the fiscal 2026 performance as exceptional across every label and projected an even stronger fiscal 2027, with an initial net bookings outlook of $8.0B to $8.2B. This optimistic forecast is heavily driven by the highly anticipated November 19, 2026, launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.

Remarkably, even with one of the biggest console releases in history on the horizon, mobile remains a crucial pillar. Take-Two estimates that Zynga will still contribute 35% of all net bookings in the coming year, just one single percent behind Rockstar Games, ensuring the publisher maintains an incredibly lucrative, diversified footprint across both core and casual gaming markets.
